So Labor Day Weekend every year in Rehoboth is one of the biggest and most fabulous weekends to go to Gay Rehoboth Beach Delaware. I always have a million emotions about Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach because it isn’t just one of the most popular and fun weekends in Rehoboth, but it is also the end of Summer and the end of party weekends and beach weekends with my friends. I love it because it is the home to the biggest rehomo traditions like the Sundance Circuit Party in Rehoboth Beach as well as the famous Drag Volleyball game where you have two teams of non drag queens dressed in themes and acting out skits while also playing volleyball. It really is an awesome show. So with mixed emotions about Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach, I do have to say that if you are going to pick a weekend to go on vacation to Rehoboth Beach, Labor Day Weekend is the one to do.

This year was a bit off from most years. Hurricane Earl was supposed to get rid of the beach and make it so no one could go. Although many people did not end up going to Rehoboth, they were probably smart for listening to the weather forecast and the city telling them not to come, my friends and I automatically thought fabulous, no traffic, pool in the front yard, great reason to have cocktails and when the evacuation sirens go off, just add in a base beat and a few cocktails for an early morning happy hour. morning, it was a perfect weekend.

The weather was amazing and no straight people showed up. The gays had Rehoboth Beach to themselves and we got to party our butts off. No lines to get into any of the stores. Minimal kids running around screaming. No families gawking at gay couples walking down the beach and lots of fun for everyone. With that said, there isn’t anything wrong with straight people, there is something wrong with the ones that come to Poodle Beach and create an issue though. We don’t hang out on the straight beach and make a scene about them so they shouldn’t do that to us. It was a nice change to not have any of them down on our beach and the ones that did show up were really cool. Another thing that was a fun surprise was the Purple Parrot on Rehoboth Avenue.

The Purple Parrot Rehoboth Beach is a mixed restaurant and bar. Everyone loves their food and the hot staff but what was really cool was that the Purple Parrot opened a huge beer garden with a full bar and small dance floor. They have a ton of outdoor seating for everyone and tons of friendly people. What I liked even more about the Purple Parrot was that they also had amazing drink specials. We got way to trashed way to fast and spent under $20 per person. That was really rare. If you are

Something that is sort of unique to Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach are the after parties and the overall atmosphere. People seem to be very standoffish but also ready to party and have fun.

Everyone knows that the Summer is now over and that there are no more amazing beach weekends until Memorial Day, with the exception of Winter Music Conference in Miami or a couple other small parties, and they are feeling the fact that they won’t get to see their friends or visit their beach houses again for almost an entire year. Although it is a sad feeling and everyone is a bit moody, they also want to have an amazing time so they crowd the bars and even though people are more bitchy during Labor Day Weekend, they also want to have the most fun so after parties go later, drinks are poured stronger and people are also more relaxed so you don’t have to worry about if you will be allowed in or not. Everyone is cranky but also in a good mood so if you wanted to talk to someone and had been afraid all Summer, Labor Day is perfect because even if they say no to you you have almost a year for them to forgot about it. Another thing that was different in Rehoboth Beach this year and for Labor Day was The Double L.

Lesbian Bars Rehoboth Beach

The Double L was Rehoboth Beach’s only Leather Bar…besides Tea Dance at Zues. The Double L was a mecca for leather men to party and shoot pool. I decided to go there when my friends were heading from Aqua to Blue Moon since I wanted a break from the main strip and took a cab up to Double L. When I got there there was a huge line and I noticed that they had changed the name to Man Dance. Not only did they change the name to ManDance Rehoboth, but they also changed the entire inside of the bar.

Instead of pool tables and standing room up front they now have stripper boxes and loud blaring house music. Instead of a pain in the ass bar layout and design to get through they have straight shots which make it easy to get to the dance floor and instead of a ton of lights they took almost all of them out in both the indoor club and outdoor space and replaced them with lasers and light machines for an excellent light show. They still have all of the leather men and they added in a bathroom but they also added in probably the best dj and dance music in Rehoboth Beach and made Rehoboth Beach’s only dance club and leather bar in one. You could technically say that Blue Moon is a dance club that is styled like a warehouse but the music is done by videos and they don’t actually mix anything. Aqua has a dj and dancefloor but the DJ this year continuously trainwrecked and you cannot really dance since the shot guys and waiters are constantly bumping into you and the bathroom line wraps into the dance floor.

Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach Delaware is an amazing weekend. The outlets have huge end of Summer sales and the restaurants are ready for your business. Everyone is ready to party and you can do everything from circuit parties to drag volleyball. You can shop for designer clothes on sale and even enjoy tons of fattening foods without having to worry about weight since summer is over. Labor Day weekend in Rehoboth beach is one of the best beach weekends in the Summer and one that you have to do. If you are looking for a beach weekend vacation for next year, Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach is the perfect one for you.

So I know I am a couple weeks late but I have been completely swamped since getting back from Rehoboth Beach over 4th of July Weekend. Not only was it an amazing holiday weekend but Rehoboth Beach Delaware is an all new city for me. Not only did Rehoboth open and at least restart a few nightclubs, but they also really started to let the straight people back in, so besides straight rehoboth beach delaware, here are the things to do in gay rehoboth beach delaware.

Food in Rehoboth Beach Delaware:

Grubs Groceries.

Grubs Groceries in rehoboth beach delaware is not only open when your hangover clears, but they carry everything from fresh veggies to a deli with sandwhiches. Grubs Groceries is where I went in the morning to buy pancake mix, blueberries, olive oil, tomatoes, bacon, eggs and just about everything we needed to make a fabulous breakfast for everyone at the beach house. They also carry everything you need for food for lunch,

dinner and any other meal you want to cook. If you don’t feel like cooking out or you want to cook in then Grubs Groceries is perfect since it is located right on Rehoboth Avenue and across the street is a liqour, wine and beer store.

Purple Parrot.

The Purple Parrot restaurant is one of the classic Rehoboth Beach restaurants. Not only does every gay couple or group of friends have to go their, but their cheap mimosa and bloody mary special and amazing beach food and cheap drinks are perfect for everyone. I had the lobster and crap wrap there and highly recommend it to everyone who wants a fun and filling lunch. The Purple Parrot in Rehoboth Beach is absolutely amazing and fabulous and I highly recommend it.

Dos Locos.

Dos Locos is your traditional American Mexican restaurant. Not only do they have huge margaritas, but they also cater to both gay and straight people. Dos Locos is a must have if you want Mexican food or even seafood in Rehoboth. My personal favorites at Dos Locos Rehoboth Beach are the Lobster Skins (amazing potatoe skins loaded with actual lobster meat and a bit to much old bay spice), the chicken chimichanga and the huge margaritas. You really cannot go wrong with any of the food at Dos Locos Rehoboth Beach and this is one of my personal favorites because it not only combines seafood with Mexican food but it all tastes amazing.

Zoggs Rehoboth Beach.

Ok this place is a gay nightmare. With the exception of the bucket drinks of rum cocktails and rum runners they are not gay friendly. The servers pretend to be but in reality they do not like the gays. Your drinks come late, the patrons are rude and they completely make comments. The food sucks and the atmosphere is Caribbean trailer trash sheik in a bad way. If someone recommends Zoggs Rehoboth Beach run the other way. Zoggs flat out sucks, we all got food poisoning or stomach aches and nobody liked it out of the 12 of us…well one person

did but the rest of us were very dissapointed.

Candy Kitchen.

Not only did I get to pick up the newest and hottest summer trend Silly Bandz at Candy Kitchen, but I also got to have fresh fudge and salt water taffy. Although I prefer Dollies taffy to candy kitchen, nothing compares to the fresh fudge and fudge flavors at Candy Kitchen. It is a must have and must do when in rehoboth beach and there are a ton of locations for you to try. Candy Kitchen also sells Silly Bandz and if you are going to Rehoboth Beach you have to buy these before you go as everyone is wearing them.

Dollies Candies.

Dollies is a classic Rehoboth Beach landmark. The Dollies sign is one of the most recognizable signs and images that people think of when they think of rehoboth and their homemade candies are incredible. I love Dollies candies and if you are in Rehoboth you have to go there as well.

Grottos Pizza.

Grottos Pizza is a Delaware landmark pizza shop. They put the sauce on top of the pizza cheese and put it in a swirl. They have walk up beach pizza stands, a walk in restaurant and are open extremely late after all the bars close. If you are in Rehoboth Beach you have to eat at two places Grottos Pizza and Thrashers Fries.

Thrashers Fries.

Not only are the your normal boardwalk fries, but when you bite into your first thrashers fresh cut boardwalk fries covered in malt vinegar and salt you will understand why everyone that goes to Rehoboth Beach always has to have thrashers french fries.

What to do.

Go to Poodle Beach. Poodle Beach is the gay beach in Rehoboth. To get there all you do is walk all the way south down the end of the

boardwalk and you’ll see all the gay couples, the volleyball court and all of the music playing. You’ll see a bbq stand, shaved ice and hot men everywhere. It’s also the one beach where you’ll see barely any kids or straight people on. Poodle beach is a fabulous gay beach in Rehoboth Beach and on the east coast.

Aqua.

Aqua is one of the most popular gay clubs in Rehoboth Beach. It has dancing, overpriced drinks, hot servers in skimpy underwear and a huge crowd every night. Make sure you get there early or you could be stuck in line for at least half an hour. You also need to make sure that if you have to go to the bathroom you get in line fast because it builds up quickly and can take over half an hour to pee. Aqua is one of the most popular gay bars and dance clubs in Rehoboth.

Blue Moon.

Down the street from Aqua you’ll find blue moon. Blue Moon has the only official dance floor in Rehoboth. Unfortunately they have a really sucky DJ that cannot mix a song and plays some seriously stupid filler songs that are slow and ruin the mood. On a good note they pour strong drinks and when the dj plays good music you will have an awesome time. Set up like an old warehouse club Blue Moon is a fun time for almost everyone.

Cloud 9.

I didn’t really go here much but it is a restaurant that basically pushes chairs and tables out of the way to have a dance floor. nothing special and completely out of the way Cloud 9 is good if you don’t mind not having a second option of where to go to dance or are heading to the Double L for the leather crowd.

Sun Dance – Gay Rehoboth Beach Nightclubs and Events Guid

Soo last weekend I went crazy and decided to drive from DC all the way to Rehoboth Beach Delaware for their end of the Summer circuit party which is also a charity event called SunDance.

Sundance is one of the biggest and hottest events on the east coast (Besides the straight electric zoo in NYC and Randalls Island….XM radio sponsored it this year and the music was freaking amazing) and it not only raises a ton of money for the Gay Rehoboth Beach Charity Camp Rehoboth, but it also gets you out of all of the bars in Gay Rehoboth Beach and into a fun and loud music event that not only takes place annually at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, but also lets you drink top shelf liquor and red bull for free all night at their open bar and because it is a private event, it is open and serving alcohol until 2 am instead of the normal 1 am time that all of the other gay bars in Rehoboth Beach have to stop and shut down at. However, if you plan on drinking, either ride a bike to the Convention center for sundance or have someone who can drive you as there are a million sobriety check points and they are very strict on drinking and driving which in my opinion is one of the best and smartest things to do.

So why would you want to go to sundance or a circuit party in Rehoboth Beach Delaware?

Sun dance is 100% different than most gay parties and clubs that you go to. There aren’t a million twinks running around on Crystal Meth and the group isn’t rude and all about excluding and being rude to older people and people who don’t have perfect bodies. Instead it is eveyone who actually lives in Gay Rehoboth Beach Delaware on the East Coast and all of the Peopl from DC, Philly, Baltimore, and other cities that are close by who just want to get away, have fun and not be their normal stuck up and overly rude personalities. Sure there are still a ton of twinks there, but you also have a huge bear and leather community, a bunch of preppy people, professionals, service people, and everyone else in between and all of them just want to have fun and celebrate the end of summer. I love SunDance in Rehoboth Beach and think that if you have never been there before, then you seriously need to give it a try. It is one of the last Parties left that is actually all about music and fun and raising money for the local AIDS charity and not all about drugs and being as assh*le. It is one of the only parties the we actually all look forward to every year on the east coast if you cannot get to Fire Island and it is always a good time. However, if you know you won’t want to drive home after the party is over, you may want to get a hotel room for the night. Here are my recommendations.

1. The Shore Inn – Run by Rick and Ed…I used to stay at this hotel for years and love them. However it is clothing optional so be prepared and Rick gets really weirded out by bringing people back to your rooms so remember to only sleep with hotel guests….that is an inside joke that you’ll get when you stay there. The rooms are cramped and old, but the service and the hospitality and the guests are absolutely amazing. If you want a good bed and breakfast feel when you are staying in rehoboth and a fun time, the Shore Inn in Rehoboth Beach is the best gay getaway hotel and destination for you. It is also a block up from the very popular leather bar (that everyone goes to anyways called the Double L)

2. The Canal Side Inn. The Canal Side in is a mixed hotel of straight and gay people and is off of rehoboth avenue. It is set back along the canal that goes under the main bridge so watch for the turn directly after the draw bridge to get there and offers a bed and breakfast feel in a new building and amazingly comfortable beds. However it is set off of the main strip, but not by far so be ready to walk 10 to 20 minutes to get where you want to go.

3. The Atlantis Hotel on Rehoboth Avenue is a run down but well kept hotel right in the heart of Gay Rehoboth Beach Delaware. It is not only affordable but clean and easy to get around from. I like this place if nothing else is available but if you are new and want to be in the middle of everything that Rehoboth Beach has to offer, this hotel is for you. You can walk to Partners, Blue Moon, Aqua, Double L, Zues and all of the other bars as well as the convention center for Sun Dance over Labor Day Weekend.

4. The Breakers Hotel. The Breakers Hotel is right next to the convention center. It is an older hotel but clean and right by the beach so you can easily walk to all of the gay bars and be at the beach within 5 minutes of walking and you will have access to all of the shopping on and near by rehoboth avenue and all of the food there. It is a pretty ok hotel and if you want something cheap that is clean and usually has open rooms, try the Breakers Hotel in Rehoboth.

5. Any Bed and Breakfast. One thing that people love about going to Rehoboth is that there are a ton of Gay Friendly or Run Bed and Breakfasts. They are cheap and affordable and you get to meet the owners and hang out with all of the other guests so if you want to meet new people or go by yourself, either stay at The Shore Inn or a Bed and Breakfast and you will always have someone to go out drinking with or to lay on the beach with….that is one thing I love about the town, there are always people looking for someone else to hang out with.

Rehoboth is a really cool gay beach on the East Coast and if you are looking for a new place to take a gay vacation, you may want to try Rehoboth Beach Delaware, especially the week before and during Labor Day weekend for SunDance which is the largest circuit party and gay bar in Rehoboth Beach. Here are some pictures I took with my phone to share with all of you and before I go, you should also stop and shop at these stores before making your trip to pick up beach toys, glowing toys for the beach and at night and circuit party toys for the actual parties.
