Rehoboth Beach What to do, Where to Eat Gay Rehoboth Beach

Poodle Beach Gay Beach Rehoboth Beach

Poodle Beach Gay Beach Rehoboth Beach

So I know I am a couple weeks late but I have been completely swamped since getting back from Rehoboth Beach over 4th of July Weekend.  Not only was it an amazing holiday weekend but Rehoboth Beach Delaware is an all new city for me.  Not only did Rehoboth open and at least restart a few nightclubs, but they also really started to let the straight people back in, so besides straight rehoboth beach delaware, here are the things to do in gay rehoboth beach delaware.

Food in Rehoboth Beach Delaware:

Grubs Groceries.

Grubs Groceries in rehoboth beach delaware is not only open when your hangover clears, but they carry everything from fresh veggies to a deli with sandwhiches.  Grubs Groceries is where I went in the morning to buy pancake mix, blueberries, olive oil, tomatoes, bacon, eggs and just about everything we needed to make a fabulous breakfast for everyone at the beach house.  They also carry everything you need for food for lunch,

dinner and any other meal you want to cook.   If you don’t feel like cooking out or you want to cook in then Grubs Groceries is perfect since it is located right on Rehoboth Avenue and across the street is a liqour, wine and beer store.

Purple Parrot.

The Purple Parrot restaurant is one of the classic Rehoboth Beach restaurants.  Not only does every gay couple or group of friends have to go their, but their cheap mimosa and bloody mary special and amazing beach food and cheap drinks are perfect for everyone.  I had the lobster and crap wrap there and highly recommend it to everyone who wants a fun and filling lunch.  The Purple Parrot in Rehoboth Beach is absolutely amazing and fabulous and I highly recommend it.

Dos Locos.

Dos Locos is your traditional American Mexican restaurant.  Not only do they have huge margaritas, but they also cater to both gay and straight people.  Dos Locos is a must have if you want Mexican food or even seafood in Rehoboth.  My personal favorites at Dos Locos Rehoboth Beach are the Lobster Skins (amazing potatoe skins loaded with actual lobster meat and a bit to much old bay spice), the chicken chimichanga and the huge margaritas.  You really cannot go wrong with any of the food at Dos Locos Rehoboth Beach and this is one of my personal favorites because it not only combines seafood with Mexican food but it all tastes amazing.

Zoggs Rehoboth Beach.

Ok this place is a gay nightmare.  With the exception of the bucket drinks of rum cocktails and rum runners they are not gay friendly.  The servers pretend to be but in reality they do not like the gays.  Your drinks come late, the patrons are rude and they completely make comments.  The food sucks and the atmosphere is Caribbean trailer trash sheik in a bad way.  If someone recommends Zoggs Rehoboth Beach run the other way.  Zoggs flat out sucks, we all got food poisoning or stomach aches and nobody liked it out of the 12 of us…well one person

dollies candies rehoboth beach delaware boardwalk

dollies candies rehoboth beach delaware boardwalk

did but the rest of us were very dissapointed.

Candy Kitchen.

Not only did I get to pick up the newest and hottest summer trend Silly Bandz at Candy Kitchen, but I also got to have fresh fudge and salt water taffy.  Although I prefer Dollies taffy to candy kitchen, nothing compares to the fresh fudge and fudge flavors at Candy Kitchen.  It is a must have and must do when in rehoboth beach and there are a ton of locations for you to try.  Candy Kitchen also sells Silly Bandz and if you are going to Rehoboth Beach you have to buy these before you go as everyone is wearing them.

Dollies Candies.

Dollies is a classic Rehoboth Beach landmark.  The Dollies sign is one of the most recognizable signs and images that people think of when they think of rehoboth and their homemade candies are incredible.  I love Dollies candies and if you are in Rehoboth you have to go there as well.

grottos pizza rehoboth beach

grottos pizza rehoboth beach

Grottos Pizza.

Grottos Pizza is a Delaware landmark pizza shop.  They put the sauce on top of the pizza cheese and put it in a swirl.  They have walk up beach pizza stands, a walk in restaurant and are open extremely late after all the bars close.  If you are in Rehoboth Beach you have to eat at two places Grottos Pizza and Thrashers Fries.

Thrashers Fries.

Not only are the your normal boardwalk fries, but when you bite into your first thrashers fresh cut boardwalk fries covered in malt vinegar and salt you will understand why everyone that goes to Rehoboth Beach always has to have thrashers french fries.

What to do.

Go to Poodle Beach.  Poodle Beach is the gay beach in Rehoboth.  To get there all you do is walk all the way south down the end of the

thrashers fries rehoboth beach

thrashers fries rehoboth beach

boardwalk and you’ll see all the gay couples, the volleyball court and all of the music playing.  You’ll see a bbq stand, shaved ice and hot men everywhere.  It’s also the one beach where you’ll see barely any kids or straight people on.  Poodle beach is a fabulous gay beach in Rehoboth Beach and on the east coast.

Aqua.

Aqua is one of the most popular gay clubs in Rehoboth Beach.  It has dancing, overpriced drinks, hot servers in skimpy underwear and a huge crowd every night.  Make sure you get there early or you could be stuck in line for at least half an hour.  You also need to make sure that if you have to go to the bathroom you get in line fast because it builds up quickly and can take over half an hour to pee.  Aqua is one of the most popular gay bars and dance clubs in Rehoboth.

Blue Moon.

Down the street from Aqua you’ll find blue moon.  Blue Moon has the only official dance floor in Rehoboth.  Unfortunately they have a really sucky DJ that cannot mix a song and plays some seriously stupid filler songs that are slow and ruin the mood.  On a good note they pour strong drinks and when the dj plays good music you will have an awesome time.  Set up like an old warehouse club Blue Moon is a fun time for almost everyone.

The Purple Parrot Rehoboth Beach

The Purple Parrot Rehoboth Beach

Cloud 9.

I didn’t really go here much but it is a restaurant that basically pushes chairs and tables out of the way to have a dance floor.  nothing special and completely out of the way Cloud 9 is good if you don’t mind not having a second option of where to go to dance or are heading to the Double L for the leather crowd.

DC Gay Pride 2010 – What Worked It and What Didn’t

capital building gay pride

capital building gay pride

This year gay pride was all about one thing, the Diva.  In a year where people who do not deserve to be a Diva, yet, like Lea Michele (I love Glee but after her interviews at the Tony’s and the Glee article in US Weekly, I am kind of getting over her and think that although she has the makings of a Diva and an absolutely amazing talent (I love her voice and acting) she needs to be successful for at least a few more years and in multiple venues before she should have the attitude the press portrays and get to steal the spotlight from others.  Then again that is just my opinion and only based on articles I have read since I have never met her.  She definitely does have an amazing voice and more talent than almost any other new star out there on broadway so in a few years, give the attitude and work the Diva status, but for now be friendly and work the crowds to earn it.) and people that do like Lady Gaga and Madonna, where everyone is impersonating them and wants to be them, DC made one thing clear.  This year is about the Diva.

Pride started with shows from groups like the Dc Gay Men’s Chorus who did a Diva’s Show and their pride parade float was anything less than spectacular.  Different Diva impersonators and I think they were actually singing the songs.  I have to give a special shout out to the Diva who was playing Lady Gaga and wore the bubble dress on the Gay Men’s Chorus float, you looked fabulous.

The parties started a week before last Sunday and every bar and club had their contests and awarded decorated their queens.  The Ms. and Mr. Capital pride pageants were held at Town Danceboutique in the U street corridor a few days before the festivals started and competition was crazy.   There was so much to do this year and way to many things to talk about so I figured I would only share some highlights from Washington DC Gay Pride 2010 with you all.

The week was normal.  I went to karaoke, had some drinks with friends and prepped for Pride.  Friday night was insane.  EFN lounge and the Motley bar were the places to go if you liked the bear crowd.  A couple of my friends convinced us all to go there and when we got to Motley Bar above EFN lounge in Washington DC, we found about 150 to 200 bears dancing.  They had free pizza, buy 1 get 1 any type of drink or pitcher special and the overall energy was amazing.  I can say though I thought I had gotten pregnant by walking through the crowd since there was “bearly” even any standing room.  After that we went out to JRs and the 17th street bars and everything was packed with people for pride.  I do have to say that although I hate Mova or whatever the heck they call themselves now, DJ Alyson Calagna did do a great job and her music pulled us in on our way to real gay bars that we would actually have fun at.

gay pride parade float wizard of oz

Saturday was the day of the Pride Parade.  I took it easy for the most part and did brunch with friends.  Wholefoods on P street was pumping out house music starting very early and from there to 17th street you could see floats being set up, flags being hung and everyone getting ready for the pride parade and parties.  After brunch we walked around and everywhere you looked there were flags, people setting up for parties to watch the parade and gay people out being tourists.  You could tell it was pride and everyone was having an amazing day and for a change actually being friendly and helpful, even to tourists.

When the parade started there were the normal Dykes on Bikes, gay police men marching, a few marching bands, all of the politicians and everyone else you expect to see in the Gay Pride Parade in Washington DC.  The nice thing about this year though was that there was a horse drawn well fargo wagon complete with a bull dog on top and a ton of corporate sponsored floats and groups.  It was nice to see DC catching up to cities like Chicago and NYC where companies sponsor and allow their employees to march.  The real stars of the DC Pride Parade though were the drag queens.

Not only is it weird to say that since every year my favorites are the DC Cowboys and the strip club floats, but the queens owned the parade this year.  The Gay Mens Chorus had the divas float and the clubs and restaurants had their queens on their own but nothing was more memorable for me than the Wizard of Oz float.  Not only do I love the Wizard of OZ but for some reason I just really fell in love with this float.  Some floats had confetti canons, others had smoke machines and singing, others had hot guys in almost no clothes dancing, but this one just stood out.

Now that night was packed no matter where you went.  Cobalt for a change was a night for the Lesbians but my friends and I went to Town Danceboutique to listen to Chris Cox who released a brand new dance song there with the artist in the DJ booth.  Although the song had a cute beat it just really killed the mood and the song actually kind of sucked, but luckily a show came on to not only bring the mood back up but actually get the crowd going again.  I cannot believe I just actually said that since I normally hate when a nightclub stops the dj for a show.

drag show at town danceboutique

drag show at town danceboutique

I don’t know the song that the drag queens performed but they had real women with them and professional dancers who I guess choreographed an actual dance routine.  The routine was flawless and the queens didn’t try to steal from each other or steal the spotlight.  Instead they all did their thing and their natural stage presence and talent started to shine through.  I didn’t really know them at first but I figured their names out from the show downstairs, Sha Quita Lee, Bnaka Deveraux and something that begins with a J.  Sha Quita you could tell can always perform.  She loves it and she can be on a stage.  The other girl whose name began with a J kind of flopped, but at least she could do the routine as it was choreographed, there just wasn’t anything amazing or special about her dancing or acting.  The real star though was Bnaka Deveraux.  Not only did Bnaka Deverauxget stuck in the back, but even though she was not always center stage everyone could see her and she stole the show.  She added her own small twists to the routine and she just flared.  Bnaka Deveraux really kicked some butt and close behind her but without the presence was Sha Quita Lee.  The hostess Lena Lett really did a great job selecting the talent for this years show and she should be proud as the crowd loved the performance.  Thank you Lena Lett.

Sunday is the normal Pride Festival.  This year was kind of different but the one thing that didn’t change was a diva on the stage.  The DC Cowboys made up their flop at the pride parade with an awesome routine, especially the Lady Gaga and pop diva mash up, but the real star was Inaya Day. Not only did Inaya Day perform all of her old hits from the late 90′s and early 2000′s but she also did an amazing cover of the song by Mousse T “I’m Horny”.  She got the crowd going and reminded us of what a Diva is and why she deserves the Diva title.  The show ended on a sour note with some country singer who came out.  She has a few hits but she really killed the mood and you could see people start pouring out as she came on stage and started singing.  She was talented but unfortunately not worth the hype.  I don’t care if she was on Oprah and Ellen, she was not a good choice to close out the show and the Radio Announcer who they stupidly gave a microphone to didn’t actually entertain and announce, instead he annoyed and caused us to leave.  All I heard was negative comments about him and the Country singer but then again, they probably didn’t think it through properly.  They should have put her on, then the DC Cowboys then Inaya Day.  Let pride end on a really high and high energy note with everyone singing and dancing and with a happy memory and energy.

DC Pride was a great time this year and if you have never been to Washington DC for Gay Pride, you should definitely check out Pride 2011 in Washington DC.  The clubs have national and international talent and the festivals are amazing.  DC always puts on a great pride festival and parade and it is one that you should not miss.  Check back on this blog again next spring for a full list or constantly updating list of events and things to do during DC Gay Pride 2011.

4th of July Weekend Rehoboth Hotel Specials

Book Rehoboth Beach Hotels Here.

4th of July weekend is almost here and I cannot believe I almost made the same mistake that I made with Memorial Day weekend and forgot to book my hotel room for Rehoboth Beach.  There are three major gay beach party weekends in Rehoboth Beach and those are Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend and Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach.  Not only do hotel rooms sell out fast for these three gay beach party weekends, but the longer you wait the easier it is for the hotels and motels to begin to raise their prices which is why it is so important to book Rehoboth Beach Hotels quickly and early.

Now, when booking hotel rooms in Rehoboth Beach you have to remember that this isn’t some huge major beach city. Instead Rehoboth Beach Delaware is a small beach town that has a huge gay population.  Instead of a huge skyscraper skyline, the buildings are not tall and not enormous.  Instead of 5 star hotels you are going to find 2 and 3 star hotels with a couple possible 4 star motels and instead of around the clock service, you’ll find family run bed and breakfasts.

With that said, here are some of the hotels and motels that are not only within the main area of Rehoboth Beach (You have to stay in the main area because you won’t be able to find a cab and the police are extremely strict when it comes to public walking and drunkeness), but you can find and book Rehoboth Beach hotels by clicking this link.

Here are some Rehoboth Beach Hotels that are in the gay area and that should be a good bet to stay at for 4th of July Weekend in Rehoboth Beach.  I also just checked and as of right now it looks like almost all of these Rehoboth Beach Hotels have vacancies for 4th of July Weekend in Rehoboth Beach.

The Breakers Hotel and Swuites in Rehoboth Beach Delaware.

The Breakers Hotel Rehoboth is one of the classic hotels that people stay at.  The Breakers hotel is a bit larger than most of the hotels and if you are used to service and front desk people than you should probably stay at The Breakers Hotel in Rehoboth Beach.  It is a larger hotel so you should have the option of a standard room or to get a suite which if you enjoy more space and a little more than a bumpy bed or somewhere to sleep for the night, then The Breakers Hotel Rehoboth Beach is probably a great bet for you.  Click here to book a room at The Breakers Hotel in Rehoboth Beach.   I do have to warn you though that since it is not a gay owned hotel (as far as I know it isn’t) and because it is a larger hotel and not a gay owned bed and breakfast or motel, you may find straight people and families staying there as well.

The Bellmoor Inn Rehoboth Beach Delaware.

I have never stayed at the Bellmoor before but from the pictures of it it looks like a standard Rehoboth Beach styled motel/hotel.  The Bellmoor is right in the heart of everything, along the ocean and you’ll be able to walk to everything without any issues.  The hotel looks a bit more modern and clean from the pictures I have seen online and since it is right in the middle of everything, The Bellmoor is probably a great bet if you still need to book a room fr 4th of July weekend and the parties.  I don’t remember this one from the last time I was there but I am sure it is at least in the middle of everything from the map and it cannot be all that bad.  Book the Bellmoor hotel rehoboth beach here.

The Brighton Suites Hotel in Downtown Rehoboth Beach Delaware.

The Brighton Suites is another hotel I have not been in, at least I don’t remember being in it…but it does look very familiar.  It is a classic Rehoboth Beach hotel and one that many people have stayed at.  It is right in the downtown Rehoboth area and walking distance to all of the gay bars, the beaches and everything else you would want to do.  The Brighton Suites Hotel is one that I do remember seeing so book it and then come back here and let us know how it was.  Book the Brighton Suites Rehoboth Beach Delaware here.

4th of July weekend is a huge party weekend in Rehoboth Beach.  It is one of the 3 largest party weekends and hotel rooms get booked up fast.  If you are planning to go to Rehoboth Beach for the 4th of July weekend then you need to book your hotel room now since time is running out fast.  Most of the small bed and breakfasts and almost all of the beach houses are already sold out.  If you still need to find a hotel room for the 4th of July weekend in Rehoboth, click here and you may be able to find one that is still available.

Book Rehoboth Beach Hotels – Gay Rehoboth Beach Hotels

Book Rehoboth Beach Hotels Here.

If you live in the mid atlantic and you are gay, you know that we don’t need Fire Island or Key West.  (At least not Fire Island in the Summer but Key West is always fabulous for the Winter) because although Fire Island is fabulous, we have our own gay beach and gay city called Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Not only is Rehoboth seriously easy to get to from any of the major Mid Atantic area cities like Washington, DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Philadelphia (Although Philly is perfectly in between Fire Island and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware), Pittsburgh, Wilmington and other cities, but it is an amazingly affordable and fabulous gay vacation.

The thing is that unlike in Key West or Ptown, you can book Gay Rehoboth Beach Hotels and Gay Rehoboth Beach Hotel Rooms for dirt cheap.  I love it.  Not only have I been able to do Summer trips down to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, but I have been able to find gay Rehoboth beach hotels for under $300 for the weekend by using some of the lesser known but still in my opinion trust worthy sites like the ones I am linking to in here.  Sure you won’t find all of the independent gay Rehoboth beach hotels like the Shore Inn or the Canal Side Inn but you will find the gay and gay friendly Rehoboth beach hotels that are right in the middle of Rehoboth and by the gay bars and gay beaches of Rehoboth Beach.

The reason I am recommending you stay in the middle of the city is that most of the gay bars in Rehoboth beach are fairly scattered and if you are wondering around drunk when you leave you can get in some serious trouble so if you stay in the middle of everything by searching through some of the Rehoboth beach hotels right here, I think you may have a much better shot of not only finding your way back home from the bars and restaurants at night, but you will also thank me for making your life easier when you leave Poodle beach and also not have to walk or ride a bike 2 miles only to shower and have to head all the way back into downtown Rehoboth Beach just to find the restaurants and Rehoboth gay bars.

God I cannot wait for Memorial Day weekend in Rehoboth in a couple weeks.  It is like the serious summer kickoff party and all of the Rehoboth Beach Hotels fill up quickly so if you want to join all of us at the Memorial Day Beginning of Summer Rehoboth Beach kickoff party, you seriously need to hurry up and book your gay Rehoboth beach hotels room quickly as there may not be any left and I think almost all of the Rehoboth beach beach houses are already all pretty much filled up.  Memorial Day in Rehoboth Beach is like Memorial Day in most major gay beach towns, a giant party.

Not only does everyone come out from every major city nearby but all of the clubs, bars and stores reopen and the parties go on way after all of the bars close at 1am.  Ya I know, that is the one thing that sucks about Rehoboth, the liquor laws about bars having to close down at 1am.

Everyone is in an amazing mood and all of the people that you have met over the years are all back for the Summer and everyone has a huge reunion.  Unlike when everyone is back in their own cities where we have our groups of friends that are hard to become a part of or in cities where people are stuck up, Rehoboth Beach somehow gets rid of everyone’s attitudes and everyone has fun, builds friendships and has an amazing time.

The bars are fun, the food is great, the beach is fabulous and the hotels are not incredibly over priced.  The problem is that if you want to go to one of the big beach weekends in Rehoboth Beach Delaware you have to book your Gay Rehoboth Beach Hotel Room early to get a good deal and just to make sure they have a room available for you.  Sleeping on the beach is seriously trashy so prepare a head of time and book a Rehoboth beach hotel room now by clicking on this link and you’ll find the site that I am currently using to book my rooms for my trips to Gay Rehoboth Beach this Summer.

Anyway I am completely excited about beach season starting and instead of doing a beach house with my friends this year I am going to stay in a hotel instead because although I love the beach house parties I miss the alone and quiet time I can get in a hotel room.  If you need to book a hotel room in Rehoboth or want to find a gay hotel room in Rehoboth beach Delaware, click here.

Gay London England – London Gay Bars

Big Ben London England

Big Ben London England

Not only is London England one of the most gay friendly cities in the world, but it is also home to one of two Sohos and this one is just as fabulous as the gay Soho district in NYC in the US.  You can see famous landmarks like the Tower Bridge, Big Ben (and he completely gives every gay man that tingle in their stomachs like when they see the Washington Monument in Washington, DC, but they combine it with fashionable jewelry and accessories and it is completely worth it), Westminster, The Palace, The London Tower with the Crown Jewels (Including the worlds largest diamond which is in a scepter and looks amazing) and so much more.

London’s Broadway and Theatre District is completely comparable to the Broadway in NYC, except they call it the West End and you can catch a different show each night you are there from Priscilla Queen of the Desert to Les Miserables and even Avenue Q, Hair, Mama Mia and all of your favorite classics.  You also get some newer shows like Love Never Dies which is the sequel to Phantom of the Opera and there is always a new show opening or closing.

London is a home of class, fun and an all out amazing city.  The food and the people are absolutely wonderful and there is never a shortage of things to do.  Even on bank holidays when most straight things are closed, the gay areas of London are full of people out having fun.  So although there are way to many things to talk about with the touristy aspect of London England, lets cover what you are really here for, the London Gay Bars for your honeymoon and Gay London Vacations.

Lets start with Soho and work our way through the city into some of the hottest and most popular Gay Bars for everyone from Twinks

Compton Bar London England

Compton Bar London England

to Bears to Leather and more.

My personal favorite there was above and beyond Comptons.  Comptons is perfect to have some drinks at.  It attracts mostly people from 35 to 50 and has extremely affordable drinks, a dj playing some great music, a fun classy styled lounge on the top floor and a packed from area for smokers.  The people are absolutely the most friendly in Gay London England and the bar staff is extremely helpful and always smiles as well.  The bathrooms stink at night, but so do the bathrooms in all London Gay Bars since they have troughs instead of toilets to pee in and limited stalls for, well lets not go there.  The music was great, you could go upstairs to talk and the drinks were dirt cheap so I give Compton Bar in London 4 out of 5 stars for a bar to have drinks at.  However they are lacking one thing, a dance floor.  So if your scene is dancing with that age crowd, you have to check out this next bar which has two locations.

Barcode in London England.  Barcode has two locations in London.  One is on the outskirts of Gay Soho but still completely walkable from any of the gay bars in soho.  It attracts more of an older crowd and some leather or bear types.  However, when you walk downstairs you’ll find a fabulous dance club which has an old

Barcode Vaukhall Station

Barcode Vaukhall Station

style like Limelight in Toronto Canada but at the same time, an older crowd without all the drug addict twinks.  Towards about 1 in the monring however the twinks do start coming in because the music at Barcode in Soho is absolutely amazing.  It is all UK hardhouse and trance and is way to much fun.  People go absolutely crazy there, but get your drinks in first because Barcode way over charges for their cocktails.  They are not worth spending the money on drink wise.  Barcode has extremely rude staff and overcharges for their drinks, on the other hand they have great music, but music only counts for so much.  I give Barcode in Soho 2 out of 5 stars.  However they also have another location, but you do need to travel to get there.

Barcode in Vauxhall Station.  Barcode Vauxhall Station is the opposite of the Soho location.  The staff is friendly, people are warm and they have a huge mix of people.  They also have two dance floors both with a ton of space and the overall club is pretty huge compared to most.  The ceiling in the second dance hall is covered in disco balls and they have gogoboys dancing on a platform behind a glass wall.  The music is amazing and the drinks are pricey but at least the bartenders are friendly too.   The club is sort of in the ghetto so if you are by yourself, take a cab and be prepared to spend up to 20 Pounds to get back to your hotel when it is over.  If Barcode ends up not being your thing, don’t worry, there are 3 other large clubs there and a bathhouse that seemed pretty popular.  Barcode in Vauchall gets a 4 out of 5 stars, the location lost its final star for it.  While we’re down by Barcode in Vauxhall Station, lets go into the leather bar next door.

KU Bar London England

KU Bar London England

I normally might not venture into this place, but I had plenty of drinks in me by this point and to be honest, I’m glad I went in.  It was apparently a blackout and Maze party.   The bar was probably one of the biggest leather bars I have ever been in.  It is made of I think 4 rooms and has two floors.  I’m not sure what the normal set up is but it was seriously cool.  The drinks were great.  They were cheap and strong and the people were fun.  Sure there were some Divas but you’ll find those at every leather bar.  I’m not really going to go too much into the actual club or bar, but the music was fabulous and the people were great, the drinks were cheap and strong and the overall vibe was amazing.  You’ll know which one I am talking about when you go to Barcode so I won’t name it, but definitely stop in and have a drink or two.  This is a bar you don’t want to miss and if you don’t want to pay about $12 to $15 per drink at Barcode, then stop here to pregame and get tore up before you go clubbing.

The Edge.  Hrmm don’t remember being there but I took a picture of the inside.  Guess it was fun.  =0)

Admiral Duncan Gay Bar.  Admiral Duncan is sort of London’s idea of a traditional British Pub, but for gay people.  It is your standard keep to themselves gay crowd.  It has a nice mix and is a friendly group of people.  I had an ok time there but it would definitely not be one that I would hurry back to, unless I was going with friends.  It isn’t anything special but just sort of like a locals hangout.

Ku Bar in Soho.  Ku Bar is Londons trendy bar.  The drinks are cheap and so are the people,,,just kidding.  The bar staff is a bit into themselves but at the same time, if you compliment them they will be friendly.  They definitely prefer the locals but at the same time will take care of tourists to.  The group and crowd seem to be the want to be trendy crowd or the “fabulosity crowd” without all the diva status.  I actually had a decent time there but something just never felt right while I was there.  Maybe it was an off day but it is one that I would probably go back to for cocktails before the clubs.  It gets a 3 out of 5 stars from me.

The Yard.  Although the Yard had its hayday, it looks like it is on its way out the door.  It has not been extremely well kept but you could see how cool it must have been in its hayday.  Unfortunately none of us were impressed enough with it to actually stay for a drink, but we did walk through the entire place.  It was cute and ok but you could tell it is way past its prime.  It should turn straight bar and reinvent itself to the “trendy liberals” straight crowd who want to be part of the gay action and in the gay nightlife, without actually having to be gay or in a gay bar.

G – A – Y Bar.  GAY Bar gets zero out of zero stars.  This place sucked.  It does however live up to its name.  It is very gay.  It is pink, it is filled with twinks, but not even cute or fun ones and to be honest, the drinks suck, the bartenders look like they have heroine problems and it was kind of disgusting inside.  All of us liked it when we first walked in but within 2 minutes half of us were ready to leave.  When we finished our drinks everyone was ready to get the hell out of there.  It was tacky, trashy and not in the good Baltimore way.  G-A-Y bar in London gets zero out of 5 stars.  That is a first in history for me to ever assign that to a bar.  I have been to at least 100, bare minimum gay bars and this is the first that ever got a zero.

The Stag is not really my kind of bar.  It is a british styled pub but for Gay Men.  It was friendly and a nice crowd but for some reason not my thing.  I stayed for one drink and then left.  I really have no comments on it.  If you need somewhere to kill time and want a pub atmosphere, the Stag may be the right gay bar for you.

79 CXR.  This bar is inbetween all the theatres in the West End and Gay Soho.  It caters to the much older crowd and a low key crowd.  People 50+ and younger people who are more calm, quiet and not into the loud scene.  It does have a ton of arrogant people in it, but the bar staff is friendly, the drinks are cheap (but they have no top shelf), and they have drag shows or drag events like Drag Queen Karaoke I think about every night.  It was a fun bar and one that I found myself coming back to over and over.  I have no idea why as it isn’t my normal type of hangout.  79 CXR in London is a fun local bar for the locals to hangout at if they are to old to go dancing and tired of all of the drama in the normal bars.  The Drag Queens are fun and not insulting but actually friendly and the overall atmosphere is fun.  I give 79 CXR 3 out of 5 stars.  I’ll definitely be back to listen to Karaoke and have a drink.  I do have to say though that they have pretty much no broadway which was really kind of shocking.

Escape.  I think this is the one that charged either 5 or ten pounds and just really sucked.  It was a small room, all 80′s Madonna which wouldn’t be bad if they didn’t throw in crappy other retro music and actually learned how to mix songs.  This bar sucked, but if you are with your friends and in a good mood could be a good time.  They had no business trying to charge a cover though.  The bar was not worth it.

The Duke of Wellington.  Another Gay British Pub…nothing special probably wouldn’t go back unless I was with friends.

The Village.  The Village is a bit pretentious but the bar staff is amazingly friendly and extremely welcoming.  The bartender remembered me and my drinks and also made a ton of recommendations on where to go and what to do.  He also encouraged me to stay there and I actually did for a while.  It is more of a twink bar, but a fun group and a friendly group.  The last night I was there they had a really b*tchy emo goth drag queen doing karaoke in between the go go boys and house music which was odd, but to be honest, the drag queen ruined the night.  Sure, her little twink followers loved here, but at least 70% of the bar was annoyed by her attitude and 30% of us left specifically because of her.  The bar was alright and had a fun vibe to it.  I actually would go back even though it isn’t really my type of bar if I was with a group of people.  I did have a good time so I would give The Village 3 out of 5 stars.

Anyways, there are a ton of more Gay Bars in London England that you can go to and even more theatres, shows, stores, restaurants, tourist traps and everything else.  London is an amazing city and if you have never been you have to add it to your places to visit before you die list.  If you have a favorite club, bar, store, restaurant, hotel, etc… then please feel free to talk about it in the comments section below.

Gay London is amazing and I will definitely be back sometime.  It is an amazing city and you should be able to have an amazing time.  There is something for everyone and always something to do.  It is expensive there so bring some extra money, but also expect to have an amazing time.

Honeymoons in Gay New York City

Not only do I love to go to NYC, but NYC is absolutely one of the perfect places to go for a honeymoon vacation or to celebrate your engagement with all of your groomsmen, especially if you are a gay male couple getting married and an even better place to give them their fabulous cocktail or diva oriented groomsmen gifts.

Gay New York City is just absolutely amazing.  There is no other city like it no matter where you go.  You can take breathtaking views from Penthouses at the Plaza Hotel on Central Park.  Here are a couple of pictures that I took from our Penthouse vacation there last year.  My view of Central Park was absolutely incomparable and if the elevators weren’t enough with their insane design and elegance, the furniture in our $2,500 per night, two story with roof top patio suite at the Plaza New York City the furniture, the butler service and everything else makes you feel absolutely like royalty staying there.  I especially loved the detachable call button and lcd control screen for everything from the TV to the lights, the AC and all services from the Hotel.  That thing came in handy after a night out at The Ritz, Splash and Therapy.

Not only is Gay New York amazing because of the class, the hotels and the overall city, but it is also the home of Broadway and Broadway Musicals.  How perfect is your first day or

weekend as a married couple than looking over Central Park, going to an amazing lunch after a stroll through Central Park and then off to a perfect dinner at one of the worlds best restaurants and then to a world class show.  Then you have a couple drinks and head back to the penthouse suite to find champagne and chocolate and roses and your new Husband or Wife waiting waiting for you.  I love New York City and if you don’t want to do it with your friends to party, you can always do it for romance with your new husband and enjoy your gay honeymoon with your new husband and celebrate your gay marriage there with the one you love.

Gay Copenhagen Denmark – Gay Bars Copenhagen Denmark

So I went to Europe for work and had to see what the gay nightlife was like out there for you all.  I used to live in Spain and went on a bunch of Mediterranean cruises, but when you are cruising you don’t really get to go to all the clubs, restaurants, etc… and because I didn’t have this site when I lived in Madrid, I don’t want to recommend a bunch of places that may not be there anymore.

Anyways, when I think of Denmark and Scandinavia, I really didn’t think of it being progressive.  Holy crap was I wrong!

Not only do they have Europe’s oldest gay bar, but gay marriage isn’t even considered or thought of as anything out of the ordinary.   They are so used to gays getting married and having rights that no one even thinks of it.  The same goes with Sweden and I am pretty sure the rest of the Scandinavian countries as well.  Not only was I shocked at how friendly the people in Denmark were and accepting they were of gay people, especially for an extremely religious Country (either Christian or Catholic because I know Easter is huge there), but I am ready to tell everyone who wants to see what a gay friendly and gay marriage friendly country is like to just go spend one day in Denmark and one day in Sweden.  You will never see it the same again.

Anyways, on to Gay Copenhagen Denmark and Copenhagen Denmark Gay Bars.

So the day started out with me walking around the city.  There is some amazing architecture there and some seriously gorgeous old buildings.  Once you leave the train station you’ll see some huge spires to the left, if you walk towards them you will be heading to the gay part of the city (The whole city was walkable for me so don’t worry about renting a car, a bike wouldn’t be a bad idea though).

After walking around for a couple hours I decided it was time to get a drink…btw if you want to eat in Denmark, go for a hot dog, oddly enough I saw more hot dog stands in Denmark than I had on any trip to NYC and I have been to NY way to many times.  They love their hot dogs like gay men love their sausages….ohh ya, I went there.

So I walked around and instead of doing a Google search for Gay Bars Copenhagen Denmark, I decided to walk the gay area (btw there are no pride flags hanging so it may be difficult to tell where they are and if you are in the right area, but if you find one and get a map, everything will be seriously easy).  After walking for maybe 30 minutes I finally found one that had to be gay.

Bar 7

Bar 7 in Copenhagen Denmark is located at the very end of the main gay street.  It has a large sign hanging in front of it and is a basement styled club.  When I looked through the window towards the far side of the front wall I saw purple and white sequined pillows and two well dressed and in shape guys with bleached hair drinking cocktails and chatting.  I then walked by the door and heard some pretty fabulous house music coming from inside and two bartenders in tight black tshirts so I knew I was at the right place.

I sat down and saw all the guys drinking some really cool looking mixed drinks and the girls drinking beer from the tap so I knew I found the perfect place to find out what bars were going to be fun for the night.

Bar 7 is decorated kind of like alternative crazy coffee shop gone club gone gay bar.  My favorite part was the lower level dance floor where they have a grand piano that is carved out and the top was replaced with glass and inside is an entire DJ booth with turntables, mixers, etc…  The bathroom area is completely done in glam and there are book cases with actual books and random paintings everywhere.

When I went back to my bar stool I still hadn’t had the guts to ask anyone which bars would be fun for the night, but when I saw this really queeny guy walk outside to have a cigarette I followed him because when in doubt, ask a queen.

It turned out that not only did he think it was hilarious that I thought he was gay, but that I also thought Bar 7 was a gay bar.  Apparently the gays in Copenhagen dress down and the straight men dress up.  It was absolutely hilarious and completely remained true throughout the night.  He got a good laugh out of it and then showed me how to find the gay bars.

Jailhouse.

Jailhouse is a small basement bar underneath a sign that says S&M.  It is both male and female friendly and has an amazing bar staff that not only dresses like cops, but is overly friendly and extremely attentive.  They serve these really tastey and slightly spicy chips with your drinks and the crowd is seriously attentive.

Although Jailhouse is technically a fetish and leather bar, they also feature a decent restaurant with proper servers and decent food.  All you do is walk through the bar to the back, go up the staircase and you are all of the sudden in a regular looking restaurant instead of a bar themed like a jail.

The music is house and trendy and fun.  The drinks are probably the cheapest in Denmark and because of the great service and friendly customers, Jailhouse gets 4 out of 5 stars on the must visit gay bars in Copenhagen Denmark.

CentralHornet.

CentralHornet is the oldest gay bar in Europe.  It has been opened as an actual gay bar for 94 years and is still running strong.  CentralHornet is a few blocks away from most of the major gay bars in Copenhagen Denmark but definitely worth the trip just for the history alone.

The bar service there is great and the drinks are huge, especially the beers.  The bathrooms are kind of odd since they are unisex and the crowd is really not that friendly.  They seem like the type of people who would steal your wallet if you left it out.  The pictures on the wall are kind of cool because they go back pretty far and I got to see it decorated for Easter which was also pretty cool.

Because it is the oldest gay bar in Europe and you have to think about the fact that it opened as a gay bar in the 1920′s or 1930′s I think, it is a must have to see 5 out of 5 stars.  If it wasn’t the oldest gay bar in Europe, it probably would have gotten a 2 or 3 stars, but hey you cannot mess with something that has lasted almost 100 years…unless its in drag.

Masken Bar

Masken Bar is Copenhagen’s idea of a Twink Bar.  It is for college age gay guys and for a nice change, no creepy old guys standing in the corner staring.  I’m not really into the twink scene but this was one of the larger drinking bars that I went into in Copenhagen Denmark for the gay bars.

It is two stories and the bar staff is ok but not really anything special.  The crowd was all twinks and it was fairly cliquish but still friendly.  Overall I’m not really into the Twink scene and I don’t go after the Twinks so it really wasn’t my scene.  For me it gets a 2 out of 5 stars but if you are all about the Twinks it is probably a 5 out of 5 for Copenhagen’s Gay Bars.

Men’s Bar

Men’s Bar is Copenhagen’s Men’s Only gay bar.  They are basically the leather and S&M bar for Copenhagen’s gay men.  It is their version of the Eagle and they actually have ads up for the Eagle in other cities.

The crowd is mixed instead of just leather and bears and the staff and customers are extremely friendly and personable.  They get everything from Twinks to Bears and Jocks to overweight alcoholics.  It is a good time but be careful in the side room next to the bar, if you look at the bars they all have glory holes in them so I am pretty sure when they night ends you have a great shot (pun intended) at having a good time.  Men’s Bar gets a 4 out of 5 from me based on the friendliness of the customers, the bar staff and the drinks.

I went to a bunch of other bars and clubs while I was in Gay Copenhagen but I am getting really tired.  Copenhagen in an amazing city and extremely gay friendly.  It is a perfect stop for a gay honeymoon in Europe and perfect for gay travel and gay vacations.  Make sure you try a Carlsburg beer as well when you are there since that is their local beer and they are extremely proud of it.

Gay Copenhagen Denmark gets a 5 out of 5 from me and I never give that type of rating to a city unless it really is worth it.

Gay Malmo Sweden, Lesbians You’ll Love This!

So I’m in Malmo Sweden for a work thing and unfortunately got Food Poisening while I was in London earlier this week.  However, even with food poisoning I could not let you all down without at least one review and since london is simply going to take at least a cocktail or ten and a million hours writing about how fabulous it was and how I am completely ready to move there, I figured I would write about Malmo and post the pictures when I get back to the US.

So Gay Malmo Sweden.

Gay Malmo Sweden is an absolutely amazing city.  Not only is it the third largest city in Sweden, but it also boasts gay marriage, gay friendly establishments and it seems like everyone here, regardless of religion loves the gays.  They are all happy to help you find gay bars, no one looks at you funny if you are holding another man or woman’s hand and best yet, they don’t think twice about helping you find some gay nightlife in Malmo Sweden.

So here is my rundown of what to do in Gay Malmo Sweden.

Gay Friendly Hotels in Sweden:

The Mayfair Hotel formerly known as Tunnel or Tunnelen.  (I know, I completely thought of Tunnel in NYC too and knew it had to be fabulous).

The Mayfair hotel in Malmo Sweden is absolutely fabulous.  Not only is the hottest, most popular and trendy gay bar in the entire city pretty much next to it (Wonk), but when I asked the front desk lady for directions to a Gay Bar Malmo Sweden, she told me to head to my room if I wanted.  When I was walking up the spiral staircase I saw her jump online and not only did she start Googling to find gay bars in Malmo Sweden, but she printed them out, made recommendations for gay men, lesbians and mixed crowds but also pre arranged can service to and from the hotel and thanked me because she had never been asked before and enjoyed the challenge.  It was amazing.  She even looked up what events were happening tonight and tomorrow night and said if I stayed one more I could get to attend a huge party.  Just like the rest of the staff at the Mayfair hotel, they really go out of their way for their guests.

So onto the details of the Mayfair Hotel in Malmo Sweden.

Not only is the Mayfair Hotel in Malmo Sweden a Gay Friendly Hotel, it was built in the 1300′s for storing product for merchants….drag queens get medieval hair salon out of your heads…the only weave around back then was a scalped head and unless you are going to a blood ball that is just nasty.  Now it is the breakfast lounge and a restaurant called TBone.  The rooms at first look like tiny apartments with antique furniture, but when you lay on the bed and feel the amazing mattress pads as well as watch your bang an olfson tv, you will be in luxury.  The stone countertops in the bathroom are stunning as well.  Heck, Jill Zaran from the real housewives of New York City on Bravo even stayed here, her autographed picture is on the wall in the hallway on the second floor.

This hotel has over 700 years of history which is even quotes on their in room stationary that is complimentary (at least was for me) and ask you walk the hallways of this amazing building you will think you are in a private collection or a museum.  The Mayfair Hotel is 100% gay friendly from the piano bar to the staff to the guests and everything around.  I completely give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Gay Bars Malmo Sweden.

The Gay Bars in Malmo Sweden are nothing short of fabulous…lesbian fabulous.  Unfortunately for me everywhere I went it was gorgeous Swede after gorgeous Swede.  When I finally made it to my first gay bar I saw a couple tables of hot Swedish Men, not a person here is even remotely ugly….it is seriously scary,  and then more and more people started to arrive.  Unfortunately they were all lesbians…hot ones from lipstick to bull dyke but still Lesbians.  This carried true through the entire night so Lesbians, if you love your gorgeous Swedish Fish, and not the candy, then Gay Malmo Sweden is the place for you.

Balthazar

Balthazar nightclub and bar has or hosts a gay night called Dream Factory.  I can’t remember the Swedish word for it.  It features loungy house music but not blaring, a raver styled bar tender staff and cliquey people who are sort of stuck up.  Not at all like the rest of the Swedes.  The drinks run about $10 to $12 US and are made around medium to fairly strong depending on your tolerance but the beer is cheap.  Again catering to the lesbians.  They also feature a wide selection of shots including one called death which is a layered drink with tequila on top and Kahlua or Baily’s Irish Cream on the bottom.  The bar was ok, small and cramped, the people were cliquey but also college aged so you’d expect it but the bar staff was amazing and really friendly and the DJ did a nice job.  I give it a 3 for 5.

Wonk Gay Bar Malmo Sweden

Wonk recently moved to right by the Mayfair Hotel.  Not only is it named after the drag queen that owns it, but the drag queen who owns it is credited to have create and really brought gay life and gay politics to Sweden.  It is above and beyond a local favorite and even the straight people love it.  Drag Queens get in free I believe and you will love having fun, dancing and getting drunk off of their amazing mix of cocktails and hot Swedes everywhere.  Wonk is the nightlife of Malmo Sweden so if you don’t like it then go to Copenhagen Denmark…..seriously go to Copenhagen Denmark,,,it is fabulous and they have a gay bar that has been an openly gay bar for around 90 years!  But if you want to stay and part in Gay Malmo Sweden at Malmo Sweden’s Best Gay Bar, Wonk is the gay bar to go to.

Tomboy.

Lesbian bar.  I don’t think I need to go into detail.  Lots of lesbians, all hot, all Swedish.  Have fun ladies.

Malmo Sweden is probably one of the most gay friendly cities I have ever seen.  They love the gays, love the gay people and love having us around.  If you have never been or never heard of it and are going to go to Europe or Northern Europe it is worth a stop.  It has been around for hundreds of years, is very open minded and you will fall in love with the city just as much as I did.

I will definitely be back if I ever get the chance to come here.  Malmo Sweden gets a 3 out of 5 stars from me.  The reason it didn’t get 4 or 5 out of 5 is because it is a bit smaller than I like (250,000 people) and because since everyone is gorgeous I felt a bit out of place.  Sure it is American insecurity but it really does matter to me.  Then again I had an amazing time so in reality, if I ever wanted a place to go to to relax and have fun and not be around anyone I know, Malmo is the place I would go.  It gets a 5 out of 5 where cities that I love like London, Rome, Toronto only get a 4.  Malmo is amazing and a must for any gay traveler.  Definitely check out Gay Malmo Sweden if you are planning your gay European vacation.

Gay Travel Guide and Gay Travel Ideas.

I just realized that I have been posting random trips and reviews of random gay vacations I have been on with everything from Gay Days at Disney World to Gay Days at Paramount Kings Dominion.  Gay Clubs in Greece and Gay Bars in Barcelona.   And one thing I forget to do is to actually include the links as gay travel here, so although there are over 600 pages to gay wedding gear, I am going to start to try and be better about posting about my gay travel by tagging it here at the gay wedding gear blog for gay travel and gay events and gay parties all over the world.  You can also find gay hotels and gay friendly hotels as well as places I recommend you avoid like crazy as they are not gay friendly or hate the gays or don’t want gay business liek magnetstreetweddings and magnetstreet.com.  I got an email saying gays aren’t part of their marketing plan so they don’t want me reviewing them…what pieces of crap!

Anyways, here are some of the reviews I have already done and I will try to tag up the rest of the pages with other gay travel ideas and hotels and places that love the gays and love when we come to visit….I’m also going to be doing a top ten gay destinations post soon so be on the look out for that one when you are planning your honeymoon for gay or straight honeymoons or even just a vacation.   I’ll do everything from cheap hotel rooms and trips to rooms I stayed in that cost up to $2,500 per night at the Plaza or $795 a night at the Grand Del Mar or even $500 a night at the Majestic in Barcelona or more affordable ones that are sometimes even more fabulous like $100+ per night at the Blue Moon Las Vegas or an Atlantis Cruise which is roughly $100+ to $300 depending on the cruise you take per night but it also includes the parties and food and a ton of other things.

Anyways, gay travel is fabulous and I know you will love it too so keep reading and please feel free to send me your favorite travel places and I’ll post them here as well, or if you have a gay friendly hotel or gay friendly travel destination and want me to come visit and review your hotel or club or place as well, send me an email or leave a note on any of these posts with your contact information (I am the only one who can see your contact info so don’t worry about it going out to the public) and I’ll make a trip to come visit you and review your hotel, or city and get you some exposure to the Gay Community.  BTW, you can also send me your own reviews, just make sure they are fare and you include pictures.

So the other weekend a bunch of us drove up to Baltimore Maryland to get out of Washington DC and have fun for a change…instead of standing around in DC bars or going to the DC clubs where everyone is bitchy and catty and full of themselves…not that there is anything wrong with that as that is also fun. But Baltimore is actually a really good time. You should probably never move or live there, unless you like small towns and not much to do, or don’t mind doing the same things over and over again, however they do have some really cool things for tourists and it is the home of Charm City Cakes from Food Network with Duff and an amazing aquarium and the harbor is really cool with some awesome seafood fresh from the Chesapeak Bay and tons of Maryland Blue Crabs which you can also order fresh online here,I’ve actually had them from this place and they are seriously fresh and good….completely worth the money!

Anyways, most of the gay bars in Baltimore got shut down like the strip club from Pecker or the old dance clubs and bars, however Baltimore still has two major gay bars one is called Grand Central and the other is one of my favorite clubs in the world and is called the Hippo.  That is actually saying a lot because I used to dj in college and traveled all over to Ibiza, Turkey, Spain, Canada, all over the USA and was in different nightclubs every weekend and so when I love a club and a bar, that actually does say alot.  Sure it isn’t as big as Priveledge in Ibiza or Government in Toronto or even Boots when it was opened, and it isn’t as fancy as Halo or the Delano Hotel in South Beach but it does have things that are pretty uch gone from the rest of the world as far as clubbing and night life go, but we’ll get to that in a minute.  Just make sure that if you go to visit Baltimore, you get the number for a cab or a cab driver since they are very hard to find and you really do need to call them.

Soo anyways, the first gay bar in Baltimore Maryland is Grand Central.  It is multiple levels and they just opened a new one on the top of the club for dancing.  It is more of a bar to go play pool at and sit down for drinks with friends and just not do much besides drink.  They also opened it up to straight people but mainly only goths go for straight night and it is still a gay bar so don’t worry about the goths, they’ll be a few there but almost 100% gay still on goth night.  The drinks at Grand Central in Baltimore Maryland are dirt cheap and the music is ok.  The people are pretty friendly and there is a few things to do in there like pool if you want something to do besides drinking, just make sure you get in line for the bathroom before it is an emergency because the line does form fast and take forever if you need to go.  Then when you finish at Grand Central Gay Bar in Baltimore Maryland, right across the street and down on the other side is the Hippo where everyone goes and is one of my favorite gay bars on earth.

Ok, The Hippo Nightclub and Gay Bar in Baltimore Maryland is absolutely one of the best nightclubs in the country.  When we were there, there was actually a bachelorette party that flew in all the way from Toronto Canada just to have their bachelorette party at the Hippo and Dance all night long…I’m not going to post the picture with the sticker and name tag they gave me as it was pretty obscene but you can easily find penis stickers and name tags at this store online lol.   Sooo anyways, when you go to the Hippo Nightclub in baltimore Maryland you should definitely follow this advice as you don’t want to get stuck in a million lines all night and you want to have a ton of fun.

When you first walk into the Hippo, you can either go to the right and find the bar where you can talk and then walk around that bar and go to the karaoke room or you can go straight and to the left to get to the dance club where the pictures I took below with my iphone were taken where everyone goes to dance.  You should definitely go and pay the cover when you first get to the Hippo so that when you want to go dancing later on you won’t have to wait again in the huge line since you’ll already have your stamp.  It actually doesn’t hurt to go to the Hippo before Grand Central to get your stamp so you can walk right in after you are done there.

The after you get your stamp, if you need a drink, the bartenders in the bar to the right when you walk in always pour a hell of a lot stronger than the bartenders in the dance club part of the building.  The strongest is probably right by the pool tables by the windows and then the karaoke room then dance club.  Then, if you like to sing and you like the 90′s head into the karaoke room since nothing has progressed from the 90s in the entire club…you’ll even probably see a couple people in vynil pants but you’ll also get to hear a ton of great 90s songs and even hard house and hard acid trance in the dance club before it gets packed.  I love the early music at the Hippo it is seriously amazing depending on who the dj is that night,,,but I have never heard bad music there.  Anyways, back in the karaoke room, you’ll hear a ton of people singing 90s songs and completely retro crap and they go crazy when you join in and even sing something new so definitely sign up and have fun with it.  The worse you are the better they cheer so don’t even worry if you can’t sing.  It is all about having fun and they do an amazing job with having fun at their karaoke nights in Batimore.

Then when you finish with Karaoke, btw you can always skip the lines in the other bars and go to the back bartender in the back corner of the karaoke room since noone ever goes there for drinks when the bar gets full so you don’t have to wait in line for drinks…but I didn’t tell you that lol.  Anyways, when you finish karaoke, have a couple drinks from the bartenders in the main bar area and then get ready to dance all night long, well until  2 am in the nightclub and be ready to have fun.

Go early enough to hear the music if you like really good house music because when it gets packed around midnight, they start playing more pop music and less of the old fast hard house and fun euro trance music that I love.  The thing that I love most about the music there is the sound system they have.

It is not only perfectly leveled sound and noise wise, but it is amazingly clean and clear.  You don’t hear any reverb and the actual speakers are seriously perfect for the noise that comes out of them.  They are also just loud enough so you can block out other people but also be able to hear when you are focused on your friends…but if you drank enough to go shake your butt on the floor, or on the stages and speakers,,,,chances are you couldn’t hear anyone talking anyways.

Ok, so here is the thing…if you have ever seen any John Waters Movies,,,especially the recent ones like A Dirty Shame, Pecker, etc…  then you will love Baltimore because Baltimore is actually exactly like his films…even Cry Baby and Hair Spray (The Original One).  People actually look, dress and act like that.  Not everyone but there is a huge population there that fit his movies amazingly well and it is fabulous.  Because they just do and dress and act exactly how they want to act, they actually have more fun and just don’t care what you look like or act like or what you are wearing.  As long as you are having fun and can have fun with people who still wear vynil and get dolled up to go dancing in a gay bar, then you will fit in perfectly….btw, you can still wear whatever you want and noone will care and that is what I love most about Baltimore…I can wear whatever designers I want or I can wear a tshirt and still fit in and have an amazing time without anyone staring or caring what I am doing or how I am dressed or how I dance….they love it all and they love everyone in Baltimore so just go and have fun and you will have fun and everyone will join in.  It seriously is one of the most friendly cities and clubs on earth as well.  Just be careful because they do have nitrogen coolers and fog machines on the dancefloor so keep your balance if you are wearing high heels or any shoes that are hard to walk in because when they go off it is almost impossible to see.

The other thing I love at the Hippo in Baltimore is the lighting they have on the dancefloor.  They seriously went overboard with their lighting but because they have a LJ there to control the lights all night it actually has one of the best light shows for an American Nightclub left in the USA.  You’ll see when you get there how well they did with their lighting and you will love all of the effects and designs and lights they have there when you are dancing.

So anyways, when  you are going to Baltimore wear shoes you can walk in or balance in, buy glow sticks and glow toys before you go out and make sure you are read to have an amazing time and dance all night log and then head over to the diner down the street afterwards for an awesome crab cake or steak and cheese sandwhich.

Baltimore is an amazing city to visit and I love going there to get away from the big cities and know that if you want to go have a good time around a ton of fun people who don’t care about anything, then Baltimore Maryland is the perfect place for you to go.
