Cherry Wood Humidor – Gifts for Father of the Bride or Groom

Personalized Cherry Wood Humidor – $ 50.99
“Every sophisticated man will want this personalized cherry wood humidor. Makes an elegant groomsmen gift or unforgettable present for a special man in your life. Holds up to 12 cigars and measures 8 1/2″” x 5 1/2″” x 2 1/2″”.”

When I was looking through my product catalogs for gifts for my Dad, I was remembering when I was younger and one of my favorite memories was lighting or cutting my Dad’s Cigars.  Although he would never let me actually smoke one, he would sometimes give me an unlit one to hold and pretend to smoke so I could feel grown up like him and also because it was a bonding thing for us.  Cigar smoking is a bonding activity and cigars are something many people use to celebrate.

People buy cigars to celebrate a baby being born, a wedding announcement, a bachelor party, an anniversary, a guys night out, a Vegas trip and pretty much anything that is fun and festive.  People don’t always associate cigars with cancer or smelling horrible, especially the cheap ones, but they associate it with class, fun and bonding with one another.  Cigars are an amazing way to not only create long lasting memories and bond with a heterosexual male, or a lesbian, and if you want to take cigar smoking or have a cigar aficionado or someone who just enjoys one every once in a while, you can go above and beyond giving them a zippo or pack of cigars and give them a humidor and if you really want to go above and beyond what you need to, fill the humidor up with high end or a mixed assortment of cigars and a cutter.  When I was looking for a gift for my Dad, although he actually quit smoking cigars and doesn’t keep any in his house, I saw the cherrywood cigar humidor pictured above and immediately thought of him.

One of my favorite memories of being a kid was hanging out with him and talking while he smoked a cigar.  I remember the smell, the way it puffed and how cool and mature he looked smoking.  Although I know it is bad for you and can kill you, back then it was one of the coolest things on earth and since we were never close or had bonding time, I always remember these evenings and still hold on to those memories today.

Although I am opposed to smoking now a days, I used to be a smoker, I do have to admit, on a special occasion I will probably have a cigar.  One of those occasions will be if I get married.

Not only will I probably have to get stuck with a Waspy or Firey Latino Father in Law, but I’ll have to do something important to impress him, especially if he is anti gay or ends up being one of those, no one is good enough for my kid Father in Laws.  You all know the kind I am talking about.  The nightmare kind you always see in wedding movies where they are never satisfied and make the Groom’s life hell.  Chances are that I will probably get stuck with one of these types of Father in Laws and one of the ways I am going to try and break him in is by bringing over a nice wooden humidor, even maybe one that isn’t overpriced but still looks classy like the cherrywood humidor above, fill it with a large assortment of nice cigars (the assortment is so I can almost ensure there will be one he likes) and also pair it with a bottle of scotch or brandy, depending on what my Partner would say his Dad prefers.

I love Cherrywood and Mahogony and a Cherrywood or Mahogony Humidor to me screams class and even if you don’t smoke or your Father in Law doesn’t smoke, Humidors still make great gifts for the Father of the Bride or gifts for the Father of the Groom.  Humidors can be used for storage, to hide things from his Wife, to store pictures or pretty much anything else that you wouldn’t want people to find.

I love the idea of giving a humidor for a gift and think that it makes a perfect gift for the Father of the Bride or the Father of the Groom to not only bond with him but show him you can be thoughtful and you made an effort to win him over.  Again, I am opposed to smoking, but I think that a cigar to bond with your future Father in Law is a perfect gift and way to build a relationship with him as well as show him you have some class and made an effort.  You may want to do a quick check with your Partner first though just to double check and make sure he was never addict as that could actually be a bad thing and you may want to rethink giving him a humidor for a gift to bond with him.  Anyways, order your cherrywood humidor here.

Gifts for the Father of the Bride, Father in Law gifts.

Filed under: father of the bride — Tags: , , — rollerbladerdc @ 9:38 pm

Sometimes telling your Bride to Be’s Dad that you are marrying his daughter can be a scary thing.  Even if you get along well and you are now entering into the competition for the love of his Baby girl and taking her away from him.  No Dad wants to know or think that someone else will be taking care of his little girl, but to make it easier on him I always recommend having a talk with him one on one where you also give him a gift that shows you care and you will take care of his little girl.

It is ok to propose to your fiancé in public or in front of her family, but having the heart to heart conversation or asking for her Father’s permission should be something you do one on one to not only show respect to her Dad, but also to show him that you are man enough to take care of his little girl and also that you respect him enough to have the talk with him one on one without the protection of his wife or his daughter.

Now, each Father In Law is going to be different, but there are a few gifts that we think will work better for a majority of Father in Laws and we’d like to share some ideas of things that we think work well across the board and that you might want to recommend to your website visitors.  Here are some of our favorite Father of the Bride Gifts to help break the news and why.

Locket Cufflinks.

Cufflinks aren’t something people wear everyday.  Especially since most companies have gone business casual.  However, cufflinks are completely appropriate for weddings and formal wear.  Taking the standard cufflink and having it engraved is one thing and a great gift for the Father of the Bride.  However I like to take things above and beyond that and also use locket cufflinks with a picture of the Father’s daughter and him in them because it not only makes it more meaningful, but it shows you respect your new wife’s Dad and the job he did raising his daughter.  The two I featured here are two of my favorite locket cufflinks and ones that I always recommend for Father of the Bride gifts.

Pocket Watches with Photos.

I couldn’t pick just one as my favorite, so click the link above to view my favorite picture frame pocket watches.

Another great affordable and classy gift you can give to your Father in Law or the Father of the Bride is a Classic Pocket Watch which also acts as a locket with a picture of his daughter.  Pocket watches are completely out of style, but when you are dressed for a wedding and want to make an extra statement, Pocket Watches just somehow seem to work and even though your new Father in Law may never wear it again, The Pocket watch you buy him will definitely be kept somewhere he can look at and he will definitely appreciate the thought you gave into showing him that you respect and appreciate him with a classic and “timeless” gift.

Humidors.

Now, even if your Father in Law doesn’t smoke cigars, Humidors make excellent gifts. Men love them and they love to be able to keep a good cigar fresh for a long time and stored properly.  Humidors aren’t something they would think about regularly or think about buying regularly, but if you buy your new Father in Law a Humidor and also some nice cigars to ask for his daughters hand in marriage.  Combine it with a really nice Brandy, it’ll show you have class and you will also be able to provide for her and make sure she has better things in life, not to mention you might impress your new Father in Law.  The only time I really don’t recommend this gift or the Brandy idea is if your new Father in Law is a recovering smoker or alcoholic.  Then you may want to try the other gift ideas above.
