Mario Badescu Cucumber and Tonic Mask

I have to say again how much I love this mask.  Not only does the Mario Badescu Cucumber and Tonic Mask work amazingly well on my skin to lift and hold my face tight, but it also feels amazing and cleans up seriously fast with no mess.  It also removes all of the blackheads from my face and when I follow it up with my Mario Badescu spf-17 moisturizer it also helps to moisturize my skin and fight acne and for some reason helps with razor burn.  I don’t know why I am rambling on about this mask when I have already mentioned it a million times in this blog, but I seriously love the Mario Badescu Cucumber and Tonic Mask and if you haven’t tried it yet you need to.  It is not only important for you to use this mask before your wedding, but use it any day where you have had stress, where you need your skin to look amazing or just want to treat yourself to an amazing cleaning and facial.

Hand Bags and Purses For Brides of All Ages – Advice and Suggestions.

So one thing many brides don’t think about is which hand bag they should have and buy and carry to match their purse or suit or gown for the evening.  Purse sounds weird there, but you also have your clutch inside your purse if you decide to carry a purse instead of a clutch which I am 100% opposed to.  You should only carry a clutch so that you can take your essentials, make up for repairs, a snack or candy bar for an energy boost, and contact solution in case your eyes dry out.  Maybe a tampon or something incase your other aunt flo decides to visit during your big day….visitors really can be a pain sometimes…ok enough with the period jokes….

Things to remember when buying a hand bag for your wedding.

Match it to your dress.  If your dress has pearly and ribbons, don’t get a bag covered in sequins and beads…you don’t want your hand bag to take away from your dress or your outfit.  However, if you do go with beads or sequins like this, do it so that it shows off your new rings and make sure you always have it under your ring to really show it off when you are holding it.

Make it age appropriate.  This is a wedding, not a night out clubbing.  If you are over 30, get ribbons and something elegant.  If you are in your twenties, go for something shaped modern and kind of hip.  You can also get away with some oversized or undersized bags,,,just make sure you have enough room for only the essentials.  If you are in your 40s.  Get something that looks right for a woman who is just starting to really get to experience life and a new life with more experience and class and love.  More curved bags and beads instead of squared bags can be perfect.  If you like squared bags, try to avoid actual squares and get something rectangular and with satin ribbons or very gorgoues materials that match your dress.  50s and up.  Hunny you can have the most fun.  Go far sequins, beads, satin and everything else you could ever want.  You want everyone to know that even though you are 60+ and getting married you can go like the rest of them and your bag should represent that even though you have reached 60 years old and more….your life is just begining and you are still young.  Heck your new life is just starting so find a bag that is fun, and full of life, just like you and your new marriage.

Make sure it is not too big.  You want it to be just big enough to hold all of your make up and things to help fix your face or your contacts, as well as any personal items that you may need during your big day.  I would also recommend hand sanitzer in it because you have to shake a million hands and that is gross before you try to eat.  Also, you don’t want your purse to be huge and take away from your gown or expecially your ring.  Buy one that is small enough to blend in and can also be used to show off your wedding ring since you’ll never have a better venue for it….besides high school and family reunions.

wedding nails and manicures – are rhinestones ok???

Something that has always bugged me about wedding nails and some manicurists are when they convince a poor bride that putting on big ass rhinestones for their wedding nails is ok.  Now, give or take a few styles that are ok, which I’ll cover, most of them are just nasty and ghetto and should not be there to ruin your perfect nails on your perfect day.

Now, with my original reaction that this is bad, trashy and ghetto, I do like some designs and styles of nails (Mainly because I made them up, even though people have probably been doing them before I thought of them) for wedding nails with rhinestones, but please promise me you will not go over board.  I heard a rumor in the 90′s that Victoria Beckham, (Posh Spice), has a diamond implanted in her nail on her ring finger.   Now that is actually pretty fabulous, mainly because it is classy, a real diamond and actually not visible to take away from her perfect manicure and distract you from what is most important,,,you as the person.

So with Victoria Beckham, this is fabulous and I love it, but with you, a rhinestone is probably not going to cut it, so lets go over what not to do first, then what to do for wedding nails with rhinestones.

Do not do:

  • Use huge rhinestones
  • Put rhinestones on each finger nail
  • Wear huge fake nails
  • Have the rhinestones in random places
  • Choose rhinestones that stand out and flash – this is bad because you want your rings to be the center of attention, not your nails
  • choose horrible bright nail polish colors – unless you are in south beach or somewhere where it is supposed to be loud and obnoxious colors….again because the focus on your hand is the ring, not your nails
  • Use colored stones to match your wedding colors – do I actually need to go there?

All of those things are things to avoid when picking the design for your wedding nails and manicure.  They take away from the ring, look white trash or ghetto and seriously devalue your dress and accessories,,,,not to mention the ring.  Soo, with all these do not dos, why not give you some of the things that do work with rhinestones for your wedding day manicure….ok =0).

Here is what looks fabulous and classy with rhinestones on your wedding manicure and nails.

Choose natural colors for a french manicure (especially if you are wearing a belled gown or one that has tool in the bottom to make it full and out) – then instead of having a million stones, a few large ones, or even stones on every finger, have very small (like seriously almost unseen diamond chips) glued along the white tip of your nails following the bottom of the white line so it creates almost a wedding ring type of look just above the pink and just below the white tip.  I love this idea of creating a fine line of crystals or rhinestones to make a fake ring or line going across your nail on your ring finger and only your ring finger on your wedding day.  Now, here are my favorite two colors for this…but remember to match your colors to your skin and contrast your dress color.

I got these images from a store that I love called (I stopped shopping at this store and refuse to recommend them, they are scum!) and they have a ton of fabulous nail polishes from OPI as well as a ton of amazing hair products at serious discounts….

These are great for the base colors and use one of the white nail polishes for the top stripe and only use clear or white rhinestones for the line tracing the bottom of the white nail polish and above the pink, or whatever base color you choose.

Actually, I think that is about it for what I like with rhinestones for wedding nails and wedding manicures, however, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hold off from being creative and finding other ways to use crystals.  For winter weddings, crystals are perfect for snowflakes and other designs for your ring finger when done causally as it helps to accent and bring attention to your ring, however just make sure you use caution and don’t over do it to look ghetto.  Choose a nice design and classy looking crystals or rhinestones for your nails and make sure you don’t go overboard.

Anyways, I hope this helped you find a good way to work with your nails for your wedding day and don’t forget to shop at (Scum shop that you cannot trust) for your wedding hair and nail supplies…I also removed the images from their store as I found out they stole them from other sites….sorry for ever recommending that shop everyone.  The reason they are no longer able to be recommended is that they did not live up to their promises and I am owed money and got screwed over.  If you shopped there in the past, you should be fine, I didn’t have any issues with shopping,,,however it was consulting work I agreed to do after meeting them and I completely regret it!

Honeymoon at the beach and vacation neccesities

So I came across these and thought they are absolutely fabulous.  I was a little shocked at first when I was looking through my wedding catalogs and products for a couple I know that is getting married and saw a bikini…  I was like huh?  Why would there be a bikini in a wedding catalog.  I was a bit confused by it so when I read about the bikini it became clear,,,the bikini is decorated with swarovski crystals and the swarovski crystals spell out a few messages.  This put it all into perspective on why you would find a bikini in a wedding catalog.  Anyways, thankfully I hope noone gets married in a bikini if it is not couture, and you are not scuba diving, at a natural healing hot spring in Japan, or ruining your big day by having it on a water slide or in a pool, please tell me you are not going to ruin your big day at a waterpark….then again, if that is your thing, then do what you need to do.

So anyways, here is why I am writing this post.  When looking at the bikini I was thinking, do people know what to bring on their honeymoon vacation?  Well besides sex toys and things to arouse each other.  Now, just in case you cannot think of anything else, I’d like to recommend some things that are perfect to bring along on your beach honeymoon or wedding with water. Ok, so after seeing these I am not soo impressed,,,however if you are into renaissance fairs and fairy tales or the middle ages,,,these veils are for you. They are fabulously long, slightly amish but still I guess that is also wedding. Then again, not everyone can pull off a stylish veil like Madonna or Cyndi Lauper so these are actually really good and solid wedding veils and if you are a bride, they still have a ton more for you to choose from.

Wedding day make up tips and hints

One thing that is absolutely unacceptable is bad makeup on your wedding day.  There is absolutely no exccuse to have any mess ups or mistakes and you should also have it pre decided ahead of time.  Anyways, instead of just saying that there is no reason to have a sloppy face or any errors, I want to help you prepare yourself ahead of time with some advice so that when your big day comes, you will be ready to not only get married, but to do it with the perfect face.

Mistake number 1.  Don’t ever assume you know it all with how to do your face.  I always recommend you hire a professional make up artist to do your face.  Now, if you cannot afford one on your big day, that doesn’t mean you can go into a Nordstroms or a Macy’s or Neimans and sit at a Mac Makeup counter and ask for advice on how to do your eyes, your lips, what colors would be best, etc…  Not only will they show you the perfect colors to go with your skin, but they can match it to your outfit so you have the perfect blends, and they can also teach you (for free) how to do your face like a professional.  Now, if you cannot afford MAC makeup, don’t worry, you can use a less expensive brand and still get fabulous results.  The important thing to remember is to practice putting your wedding face on and to take hints and tips from others or let them show you how they could do you face to.  If you practice over and over before your wedding, you will be in good shape to get your face on fast and correctly on a day where time is not your friend.

Mistake number 2.  Most brides use their typical or regular mascara on their wedding day.  If you do this, please, please, please make sure it is waterproof.  Now I am not worried about rain melting it, it is your wedding that I am concerned with.  Weddings are full of emotion and when you pack a room full of people whose emotions are going crazy, it is not unlikely that you may start to cry a bit from happiness or nerves.  The crying is why you need to make sure your mascara is 100% waterproof.  Or you could try using a high quality mascara or natural brush like Li Lash.

Mistake number 3.  Only one face.  Your face needs to change to match the time of day and the season you are getting married in.  Your wedding day and night are special and your make up look doesn’t have to match your normal day face, it should be special too.  It should also match the season you are getting married in.  Use a bit more full colors if you are in the fall, use light and natural for summer, winter weddings shouldn’t be afraid to outline things and spring weddings can be light and fresh.  Now, what most people don’t think of on their wedding day is to prepare two faces as well.  In the day your features will stand out and look fabulous in natural light and less make up is more during the day.  You don’t want to be covered up like a whore, you want enough on to highlight your best features without showing that you are wearing too much.   Nighttime and receptions that are in dark or low light areas are a completely different thing.  For these and night time receptions you can add in more makeup, use a darker eyeliner and really help your face stand out.  This is the time where make up makes your pictures worth while or worthless.  A few weeks before your wedding, practice a day face and find a way to make it work for the night too while only adding a few touches.  Remember, most wedding purses and bags that will be available will only hold a couple small things so choose how to convert day to night wisely.

Mistake number 4.  Saving your expensive makeup for your big day (or perfumes as well).  Don’t save it for your wedding day.  You need to test it out at least 3 or more times before your big day to make sure you don’t have or develop an allergic reaction to the perfume or have an allergy to the makeup and dyes.  You need to find out how to make it work and blend on your face so that you can replicate it on your big day.  Not all make up goes on the same way so if you are saving your good stuff for your wedding and practicing with your cheap, you may be in for a shock on your big day.  Even if you don’t want to waste it, at least give it a practice run or two to make sure you don’t have an allergy and you can work with the brand.  Not to mention a rash is not a pretty thing for your partner to look at as you are tying the knot.

Wedding day makeup mistake number 5.  Not using something to hold your eye shadow and foundation in place.  Something I learned from a Drag Queen years ago is a trick that keeps their faces on straight in hot and sweaty clubs, under spotlights and while performing and dancing all night long in clubs and on catwalks.  It is to buy an aerosol hairspray that is cheap like aquanet or rave and use it as a fixative.  You need to close your eyes and hold it an arms length away, then you take it and spray your face down.  It holds your foundation in place, your eye shadow and everything so that even when you are dancing at your party, your face isn’t melting and your skin tone stays flawless.
