The Just Married Game

The Just Married Game

So I went to my mailbox the other day and had a small package waiting in there for me from SyckGirlGames.com.  Now, getting small packages in the mail from strangers can sometimes be a bad thing, that’s why I always shake to see if there is any white powder in it first.  Unfortunately this time there wasn’t.  What I did find though was a really fun game which is not only perfect for a stocking stuffer for newlywed gay couples, but also a perfect gift for gay couples as well.

The Just Married Game is a question and answer trivia game for newlywed gay couples.  You have to get a pen and a piece of paper out for each team and then the players need to choose a score keeper.  Each couple will decide who will answer the questions first in each of the first 3 rounds and then you switch.  (This game should also work in theory with best friends).   When the players who are not answering the first rounds of questions leave the room, the players who are giving the answers sit down and each answers the same questions.

Each player then answers the same 3 questions.  The first question is worth 1 point, the second question is worth 3 points and the 3rd question is worth 5 points.  After you have each written down and hidden your answers, the score keeper collects the pens and your partners are able to come back in.

Now the score keeper gets to read off the questions and without help from their partners each person gets to answer what they think that their partner said.   The score keeper then counts the score and keeps track of it.  After you go through however many rounds you wanted to play you add up the scores and see who wins.

The 1 point questions are kind of boring and easy.  The 3 point questions are for the most part a three answer question where you pick one and the 5 point questions are the fun ones where you answer about sex, friends who aren’t out of the closet and other taboo topics.  The game overall is perfect for couples and best friends who know everything about each other.  The Just Married Game is definitely the perfect party game or gift for newlyweds and gay couples.  Since it is small and affordable you can even give it to them as a stocking stuffer this holiday season.   If you have bought the Just Married Game, feel free to leave a comment below with how much you either liked or didn’t like it.  I personally do like this game and think it will be a ton of fun to play with my friends.

Varla Jean Merman and Jackie Beat Do Broadway and Palin

Its been a while since I’ve posted any fun drag queen videos so I figured its about time to catch up and post a couple new ones that I haven’t seen before.  The reminder that I haven’t done any drag queen videos for a long time came because of a rumor I heard that they are making a sequel to my favorite movie, Girls will be girls starring Evie Harries, Varla Jean Merman and Coco Peru.  (How’s that for proper english and run-ons.)

This first video is of my favorite drag queen Varla Jean Merman.  We all know that Varla can sing Opera and has an amazing voice.  The thing that we didn’t know was that she can hit above a high C which is almost impossible.  Watch out Hugh, Varla may be coming to broadway to take over the leading lady in Phantom with this note, while wearing a Bernadette Peters Into the Woods Styled Gown!

But before we play the Varla Jean Merman’s magic flute video…I think we need to see Varla Jean Merman in her new Fleet Enema Video.  Yup, along with every other commercial jingle and video that we have seen from her in our Varla Jean Merman week, there is a brand new song out there dedicated to non other than Fleet Enemas.  Patti Lupone, eat your heart out, Varla’s coming to Anything Goes as well…and with Fleet, Gabriel won’t be the only thing that blows (sorry I had to).

Our next video is one from famous singer and song writer, Jackie Beat.  Not only is Jackie friends with celebrities like Margaret Cho, but she also loves to sing about other celebrities like Sarah Palin.  In this fabulous tribute to Sarah, Jackie helps to give her book Going Rouge a great big push……………….out the door.  Not only is this video by Jackie Beat fabulous, but it kicks all of the other Going Rouge Madonna Vogue spoofs butts.  Here is Jackie Beat Goin Rouge Sarah Palin Book tribute. I do have to warn you that the song doesn’t get good until after the first minute or first minute and a half but is worth watching regardless.   If you get a chance to see Jackie Beat in concert go.  Her shows are not only funny but she has just as much stage presence as Carol Channing or Barbara Streisand.

The Washington DC Food Show and Wedding Gifts

Today I went to the Washington DC food show, the main pull was getting to see Paula Dean the Butter Queen Live…bastards wouldn’t let me take pictures, and secondly the fact that I absolutely love food and get to try a million and one different new sauces, desserts, watch people cook and teach how to cook as well.

I not only got to see new things like this one company which was cooking meats on slabs of salt in rock form, but I also got to try the meats that they were cooking. I had heard of using stones to make pizza and firing rocks to heat bread or even cook bacon on. I had heard of people using giant slabs of rock salt to grill and cook meat on before but I had never actually gotten to see it in person. When I was walking by their booth at the show the smells of the meats and the salts were above and beyond incredible. Just looking at the meats cook and smelling them then tasting how great they were was enough to almost get me to buy the slabs of rock salt for grilling and cooking. The thing that stopped me though was the fact that I would have had to carry them through the rest of the show and then carry them home which I was definitely not up for. I did however take a short video of them and asked them for the url at the end of it. These slabs of rock salt are absolutely perfect for wedding gifts.

After eating that man’s salty meat,,,ok I couldn’t resist, I needed something sweet as well which is when I came across the most amazing idea and incredible woman on earth.  Gia Michaels.

Gourmet Garbage by Gia Michaels

Gia Michaels is probably one of my new heroes…and yes she did give me a free sample to take home (sticks tounge out at you).  Not only did she combine a ton of types of mini chocolate chips with crushed heath bars and crunchy things, but she also threw in peanut butter, chocolate covered pretzels and everything else that is sweet, salty and good into a small jar and named it Gourmet Garbage.  Gourmet Garbage is not only perfect on its own but you can also combine Gia Michaels Gourmet Garbage with ice cream, on top of brownies or pies, into smores and rice crispy treats as well as marshmallows and a ton of other fabulous desserts.  Not only is Gourmet Garbage perfect to add to your favorite home made treats and bridal shower treats, but you can buy a jar for each of the kids at a wedding and let them eat it or put it on their desserts or set up a treat station for them to add it to rice crispy treats to keep them out of your hair while you enjoy your wedding.  Gourmet Garbage is a seriously dangerous anti diet food that I cannot resist.  Gia Michaels I love you and my skinny jeans hate you for creating this amazing treat.  I highly recommend that each of you click on the link and go to her site to buy Gourmet Garbage right now.  It is seriously worth it and lets face it, Summer is over so let your diet slip for a change.

Funni Bonz BBQ Sauce

FunniBonz BBQ Sauce

Another booth that I wanted to share with you all was this fantastic guy who had a great story.  He used to have a sales job I think but ended up quitting because that company just wasn’t for him.  Instead he discovered that he could create a series of BBQ Sauces that are not only delicious but can sell extremely well.  Within 2 and a half years of quitting his real job, he now has a BBQ sauce empire and over 2,000 grocery stores carry his sauces.  The sauce is called FunniBonz BBQ Sauce and it is amazing.  I tried the original, the spicy and he also has a Chipotle.  Now they weren’t the best in the show but they were pretty damn good and I ended up coming home with a bottle of the spicy.  The FunniBonz BBQ is not only perfect for every day use but it is also more than worth what you would have to pay for it.  The price cannot be beat on FunniBonz BBQ Sauce and if you are doing a bbq at your bachelor party or evben bachelorette party and need a sauce to serve, FunnyBonz BBQ sauces are the perfect bbq sauces to use.  I know I am going to be using it instead of the others that I got tonight as FunnyBonz BBQ Sauce is a new personal favorite.  You can find this fabulous BBQ Sauce by clicking here.

This next lady didn’t need anything like a giant tradeshow booth or fancy corporate clothing.  Instead she actually prefers not to use those as she doesn’t need it.  No fancy packaging no anything but good old fashion love in her food.  She made probably the best Vanilla Bean and Vanilla Buttercream cake I have ever eaten.  It wasn’t fancy, there was no gimmic, just her and her friend slicing the most amazing vanilla bean and vanilla buttercream cake I have ever eaten.  When you have love for food and it shows you don’t need anything else.  When I get married, if she is around to make that vanilla cake, guess what she is who I am going to for my wedding cake.  It was seriously that good.  Listen to the end of the video for her website url so that you can order probably the best vanilla bean and vanilla buttercream cake in the world.

There were a ton of other highlights at the Washington DC Food show but I need to go get dinner ready.  Thank you to all of the vendors who took time to talk to me and for a few of them who even gave me samples to take home.  The Washington DC Food Show was amazing and I highly recommend it.  It is a bit pricey at $25 a person but when you get to taste all of the amazing foods and also get to watch and learn how to cook from some of the most famous and friendly Food Network Star Chefs, the $25 admission is completely worth it.

The Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant

This year I was lucky enough to get a ticket to one of the most sought after Washington DC invite only events, the Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant.  When I was thinking about why I would want to spend over $70 on a ticket to see a Drag Show I didn’t really realize what I was actually paying for.  The reality is that the Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant isn’t actually just a drag show, it is a full scale insane event.

The show starts with all 2,000 invite only tickets being sold to friends and invitees and each of those 2,000 people not only get into the Halloween spirit but they all also get dressed up in drag.  I’m not talking about normal drag, I’m talking about costumes that could easily cost $1,000 and more.  We had entire casts of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, Carol Channings, Liza’s, 5 Julia Andrews with guitars from different stages in her life (none topless) lol, Princess, entire casts of Strawberry Shortcake, Trailer Queens, Divas, Celebrities and everything in between.  Imagine walking into a building with 2,000 professional looking queens standing around drinking, partying and going crazy.  It was absolute insanity and that was even before they show began.

Eventually people start to wander into a huge ovular ballroom with a giant stage, movie screens and tons of food, cocktail lounges and screaming queens ready to party.  The Miss Adams Morgan pageant eventually starts and unlike a normal drag show where you have a queen who may have a small prop or two, these queens are like the ones you see in those videos but never know where they exist or where the shows happen.

They had giant costumes, elaborate makeup and a full walk and greet and song to get the crowd going.  The music starts blasting and as the queens come out and their tables cheer them on (Each table is invited by particular queens and given voting tokens since the audience gets to choose the winner) while the MCs, also in drag, rip into them and also compliment them to not only get the audience laughing but to keep the audience energized.

After everyone is introduced and they all have performed as a group the MCs have the lights turned down and you get to watch professionally shot video skits that mimic popular tv series and feature old Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant winners.  Not only are the skits hilarious, but they are the perfect way to distract you from seeing what the darkened stage is turning into.

When the lights come back on and you can finally see again, all of the sudden the stage is 100% different and set up for an actual drag queen performance.  The sets are two stories tall with working stairs, airline seats, swinging doors, moveable platforms on wheels, light machines and everything else you would imaging on a broadway show stage.  Each queen gets their own stage with a ton of props and each one does a mashup, compilation song with multiple costume changes and each of them worked their songs and props even better than you would think a non trained dancer or actor could.  These were not typical drag queen performances, they were actually like watching a professionally choreographed shows.  After each queen would finish all of the lights would come back down and they would play another video clip and when the lights would come back up there would be an  entirely new stage set up for the next drag queen.

The Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant wasn’t like a normal drag show, it was more like a professionally put on broadway cabaret show where the audience not only gets dressed up but they get to participate with the voting.  If you are lucky enough to get a ticket to the Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant than it is 100% worth the money.  You’ll not only have an amazing time but you’ll also be entertained and ready to party all night in your favorite drag.  The Miss Adams Morgan Drag Queen Pageant is a must attend event and one that I hope I am able to get a ticket for again next year.  If the people throwing it find this blog, leave a message and let me know how we can come back again.  You guys did an amazing job with the show.
