Tea Gifts, Tea Presents, Tea Wedding Gifts

One thing that I hate about the seasons changing is the fact that I always get the flu.  It happens a few times each year.  Usually around mid october, once around new years and again in the spring when it starts to get warm out.  For some reason my body hates when the seasons start to change and its reaction is usually a flu with a fever.  On a good note though it does make it so that I get to drink more tea and because I have met a ton of other people who get seasonal flus as well, it also makes it so that I can give tea gifts away as a thinking of you or get well soon gift as well.

My addiction to tea started because of a small tea shop in Chicago on Broadway.  I went in hoping they would have had an espresso machine so I could order a white chocolate mocha but instead they said they hadn’t bought one yet.  They handed me a tea menu and I found a black currant tea that was not only amazing, but it also gave me a perfect caffeine fix without the jitters because it was a much less amount, or at least felt like a smaller amount.  The black currant tea was not only perfect for me, but I ended up buying it as a gift for a few other tea lovers that I worked with.  From then on I have been hooked on tea but I usually forget to buy it until flu season comes around and when it does you’ll always be able to find tea in my house and most people end up getting tea gifts or tea pots and accessories or tea gift sets from me when I have the flu.  The funny thing is that I thought it would be hard to convert coffee drinkers into tea drinkers but when a coffee drinker tries tea that you pick out for them because you think it will match their particular taste, it is a lot easier to get them to change over, at least part of the time.  My personal favorite teas and tea gifts are black teas with fruit flavors, peppermint tea with orange infused honey and vanilla tea mixed with caramel and regular or flavored honey.

Tea gifts are not only fun and fabulous but you can buy and give out tea gifts as tea wedding gifts, tea birthday gifts or you can really give out tea gifts for just about any occasion.  I personally love giving out food gifts and tea gifts fall high on that list.  Ask any of my friends who I have bought a tea gift for, if you find a perfect tea and way to flavor it, you can easily convert a coffee drinker into a tea lover.  Below are some of my favorite random tea gifts from one of my favorite online tea gift shops.

One of my favorite things about winter wedding fashions is that winter wedding clothing is all about vintage styles and metallic clothing colors.  You have to think and remember old styles in Hollywood from the 1920′s and Hollywood Glam and also 1970′s styled outfits as well.  Think Victor Victoria or even of Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger in Chicago styled clothing and gowns.  You can also wear dark colored fur stoles or fake fur coats and jackets and you can also wear studio 54 styled 70’s disco clothing, but updated to be modern.  Winter weddings are about classic and vintage and they are about showing up in layers of clothing that are able to let you change looks when you take one off and have a brand new look that you didn’t expect to have on underneath.

When you arrive at the wedding you want to show off the long fur coat or a fur shawl with a long trench coat.  Try to have a silky or a satin lining inside the jackets or coats so that when you take it off to show a pencil styled skirt or piped gown or even just a layered or classic slinky styled metallic vintage Hollywood glamour gown, it’ll show it off and make everyone take a second glance.  Nothing looks sexier than those types of gowns and hair styles against a silk lined coat.

If you aren’t into piping or pencil skirts and tops for winter weddings, you cannot go wrong with gowns and vintage styled dresses in metallic golds, silvers and bronze colors.  Not only are these looks timeless and the colors ideal, but you also have a choice between gowns that are low cut in the back and have bottoms that flow together or define colors and fabrics in layers or you could always try to wear a vintage styled winter gown with petals or with layers or even just slinky fabric flowing down.  Think of the gowns you would see on Marilyn Monroe or even on the fun blond girl who sings the Chicago song from the movie version of the Broadway show Victor Victoria.

For winter wedding hairstyles, I always love classic looking but modern vintage style with waves, curls and bobby pins. One thing you can also pull off with a vintage gown and theme are accents for your hair as well.  Not only do these work well, but they are perfect for Winter Weddings.  Think Madonna in Evita, that is the classic look and style that we are going for. Now lets go over Winter Wedding Jewelry.

The jewelry for Winter Weddings should be vintage styled but also have some sort of modern twists to it if you are not able to afford authentic vintage jewelry with gemstones.

If you can do antique jewelry and can afford the gems then you should try to stick to jewelry in golds and silvers that match the metallic gold and silver gowns that you are wearing.  You also want to make sure that you don’t go modern but you wear vintage styled jewelry with a more modern feel so that your jewelry and outfit match and you don’t look out of place.

For gem stones, you’ll want to use emeralds or rubies to add in some color or if you are able to find dark purple amethysts, wear them to add in some color but make sure you have a large dark purple amathyst ring with a large stone as that is what will make amethyst and vintage metallics for together and look amazing.  If you decide to go with emeralds and emerald earrings you’ll want to wear emerald bracelets or bracelets with emerald accents and if you want to wear rubies and ruby earrings, match your ruby earrings with a dark red ruby and yellow gold ring with gold metallic gowns.  Do not match red rubies with silver gowns or wear them with silver jewelry for winter.  It not only looks awful for winter weddings but it is rude to wear and not nice to do to the bride.  It shows bitterness and anger towards the bride or married couple.

The other style that I love and that seems to work extremely well for winter weddings are the 1970′s styled clothing but with very modern twists, colors and fabrics.  You can use the amazing lines and silhouettes and really cool shoes, you probably shouldn’t wear platforms or fishbowl shoes but you can follow the style of lines and really cool shapes by wearing shoes with cool backs and sides or even modern styled heals.

For jewelry, find vintage styled but updated jewelry because the 70′s are over and you don’t want to show up in full bell bottoms and hippy styled jewelry looking like you just did a ton o cocaine on a dancefloor.  Instead, you could wear vintaged styled modern designs that are not only chic, but tie in the emo look and you’ll have a classic and fashionable winter wedding look.

Wedding Favor Boxes Sale – How to Pick Wedding Favor Boxes

Wedding Favor Boxes are one of the most important things for your wedding.  Not only do they great your guests and act as a gift to thank them for coming to help you celebrate your marriage, but they also work as a mystery and a memory of your wedding.  People immediately open them when they get to their tables and find them because they want to know whats inside and in the morning when they wake up, they look at their wedding favor boxes and remember your wedding the night before.  Wedding favor boxes are not only one of the most important things for your wedding to help people remember your wedding but they also work at helping to make your guests feel welcome and invited since it is like they are getting a gift as well.   Wedding favor boxes are not only fun to get to pick out and give to your wedding guests but there are hundreds of styles of wedding favor boxes to choose from so how do you decide which wedding favor boxes to buy for your wedding guests and how do you decorate them.   The first thing to do when deciding which wedding favor boxes you should by starts with thinking about when your wedding is.

If you have a fall wedding than choose a yellow box and a brown bow or ribbon to tie it with.  If you are having a winter wedding and choose a blue box you can wrap it in silver or white ribbon and even add in some glitter or something sparkling that looks like snow or ice crystals.  If you still have more budget left, then it is always fun to add in pins or other decorations like for winter weddings to add in glitter covered snowflakes or candy canes.  For spring you can add in fake flowers to add to your wedding favor boxes and for the fall you can add in leaves that have changed colors or you can add in vines and berries.  For summer you can try adding on small animals like birds or frogs or other things that remind you of summer.  For beach weddings you can add in tiny seashells or sunglasses and if you have other themed weddings like wine or you are getting married in Napa Valley than use wine glass markers like grapes or wine glasses to decorate the wedding favor boxes.

Fall Wedding Invitations

Something that I love even more than fall wedding table decorations like leaves and vines are the fall wedding invitations.  Not only do your fall wedding invitations help to create the look and feel for your fall wedding, but they also help to let everyone know how to plan for your wedding.

Unlike Summer weddings where everyone needs to wear light clothes, fall weddings and fall wedding clothing needs to be carefully planned depending on where you live and if your wedding is in early or late fall.  For early fall you can wear light coats, shawls and fur stoles.  For late fall weddings you go into trench coats, vintage styled clothing and you wear full length fur coats over fabulous  vintage styled clothing.  The thing about your wedding invitation is that it is a more important card than your save the date card because it is the one that not only announces you and your partner but also your wedding and date and the theme and colors.

Lean How To Stop Gay Teen Bullying and Suicide.

If you are gay and you have been involved with the gay community you know that suicide can and does happen.  Teens seem to be more impressionable now a days than even back in the 1990′s when I know suicide was a huge deal.  Gay teen and Straight teen suicide is nothing new, but the causes of the increase or at least modern gay teen suicide and even some straight teen suicide is what is different.  I think one of the main reasons is that back in the 90′s and even back to the 50′s when you were gay or you were outted or you were made fun of, it stayed in school or just in your town and then died.  Now when you are being bullied people are using technology to not only send it to your parents with no warning but you are also having it uploaded to the internet and instead of just your local classmates finding out you have the entire world, or what feels like the entire world, coming down on you and finding out you are gay.   When you are gay and in the closet, especially when you are a teenager, you are terrified.

You have to worry about your parents kicking you out of the house for it (not every city has shelters or housing programs for gay teenagers that come out and get thrown out of their homes and families or even LGBT community centers), you have to worry about your school mates beating you up because of it, you have to worry about your church or religious building kicking you out or making you evil to their community and members, you have to worry about being thrown off of sports teams and out of hobbies and social groups that you love and most importantly you have to worry about what it means for you and the ones you love.

When you get outted and if your community is not opened to gay people, the local community not only comes down on you as a gay teenager but they also target and sometimes attack your friends, your family, vandalize your home and your car and try to make your life a living hell.  It seems like that with technology advancing and the internet being extremely popular, bullying isn’t just in the schools but it everywhere you go.

When someone gets outted it now goes online, into text messages and gets to the person’s parents before the person has the ability to run home before they can help to make the conversation easier since kids can text it to the parents or find them on facebook or send it via email.  The stress of coming out is bad enough, but when you have it sent out to everyone everywhere and weren’t ready, and you have people bullying you for being gay, it becomes unbearable.  Lately we have been seeing a rise in teen suicides based on outting the person before they were ready to come out and it seems like the issue is getting worse.  It isn’t a Republican or Democratic issue, it isn’t a rich vs. poor and it isn’t a white vs. black issue either.  It is an education and tolerance issue.  So what can you do to help stop teen gay suicide from bullying and outting gay teens and outting gay people?  This is actually much easier than you think and one person actually can make a difference in this case.

1.  Be that person’s friend. When you are being bullied for being gay, especially as a teen, what you need is a friend who will not only stand by you but also take you in if your parents throw you out and who will support you.  Having even one person to be there for you can stop a suicide.  Being bullied is bad enough, being alone with it makes it worse.

2.  Set up a local gay community center and local gay teen support group. By doing this, even if you only have yourself and you are not gay, by making it public that there is one and sticking by it, when a gay teen or person is outted they will know there is somewhere to go.

3.  Educate your Educators. Teachers, Schools and Coaches are big culprits in this.  One of the leading issues is that our Educators can be some of the worst bigots and by them turning their heads when they see bullying for being gay or just bullying in general, they help to encourage suicide and harm.  This happens more than you know and even though many play dumb when asked about it, they are a first line of defense against bullying and gay teen suicide.  Get everyone from the local PTA to the school board involved and set up a help and prevention system and educate them on gay suicide and teen gay suicide from bullying as well as how to not only prevent it, but make their classrooms and places where they can influence people a thing of education about tolerance and not a place where minorities have to be afraid.

4.  Church and Community Thought Leaders. Many churches are the leading cause of hatred against gay people.  Sure there are other ones but with the Church against them you have an issue.  If your church or local religious group is anti gay, not just anti gay marriage but anti gay, it’s time to speak up and become an influencer in the church.  Leaving that church for a gay friendly church is not a solution and helps no one.  Stand up and speak out and question them.  Talk to the people who run that church and keep fighting until they see that gay people are not evil and stop teaching their members that they should hate people for being gay.

5.  Parents, find your local or a local PFLAG group. If you think your kids might be gay, find a local PFLAG group and have them help you through what you may end up having to face.  Not only can they give you support but they can also help you prepare for your gay child coming out, help to prevent gay teen suicide and also help to show you how to not only help them, but also help yourself if you live in an area that is not gay friendly.

6.  Educate everyone on bullying regardless of gay or straight. Teasing is part of growing up and bullying happens.  The issue with it now a days though is that it is taken to a much larger level.  Calling someone names does hurt and getting beaten up can hurt just as much.  Sometimes it might lead to suicide but when you add in technology and video cameras and people video taping you secretly and then broadcasting their bullying publicly to everyone in the world, that takes bullying to a whole new level.  It’s time to start making the schools and the teachers and everyone aware of the serious effects of teenage bullying and technology and not only making the teachers enforce and anti bullying policy but actually help stop it before it stops.  Too many parents just leave it alone and think it is part of growing up.  Too many teachers worry about being the cool teacher or let their own personal beliefs come before a child’s safety.  It is time to start getting rid of those teachers and making the schools a safer place.

People are going to be bullies and kids are always going to get teased, the difference is that it shouldn’t be based on if they are gay or not or if they are black or white or latino, it should be about something that doesn’t actually matter if it happens (I am not endorsing it at all and am 100% opposed to bullying, the truth is that it is going to happen regardless, we should be educating to make it about less severe things like picking your nose instead of having parents that are of different races).   Many celebrities and gay activists are now getting involved.

In the video clip above I showed Fox News (Generally right wing and not always gay friendly supporting the end of gay bullying, except for the one lady who I personally now cannot stand), you have Ellen doing a small segment (also shown above) and Kathy Griffin is doing an interview shortly on I think Larry King or another major show about gay teen suicide and gay teen bullying.  Education is only a part of how to fix this problem, providing support groups and places for gay teens is the next.  By helping to create these and make them publicly known to everyone, you may be able to help save the life of a gay teen or gay teen that is being bullied in your area.
