Save the Date Magnets – Where to Buy Where to Avoid!

So one product that I have always loved for wedding announcements is the Save the Date Magnets that you can have customized for your wedding with your date checked off on it. Not only do the save the date magnets work great because people stick them on their fridge so that they remember the wedding and to not make plans over your big day, but you can also get ones with picture frames, ones that let them fill in other important dates around your wedding, you can check off when to order your wedding present if you want to add in a joke and you can also make random notes on other days on the save the date magnet as well which is something that I absolutely love about them. However, there are a few things to remember when sending out your save the date magnets.

1. Send a picture of yourself with it for underneath or inside the magnet. I just think it is a nice touch and because a lot of people use save the date magnets to announce their wedding day and even sometimes that they are getting married, it makes it an even better surprise and more meaningful for the people who you are inviting to your wedding.

2. Check the magnets to make sure that the printer who printed your customized save the date magnets remembered to mark the right date on the magnets. They do make mistakes so catch their mistakes before you send them out.

3. Don’t forget to include your phone number and the address of the place you are getting married at. Its not a bad idea either to include an email address or the address and number of your wedding planner if you have one so people can rsvp and remember to rsvp if something changes and they cannot make it or are able to make it last minute.

Fall Wedding and Fall Fashion is Here!

Ok, I am going crazy over the newest fall fashion lines and trends for Fall weddings right now. Everything is completely vintage and vintage gowns, hair and jewelry are all back in style for the fall with a few twists and tweaks. One of my favorite things about the fall season and fashion trends and wedding trends that is going crazy this fall is that colored pearls are back big time. Especially peacock, purple and green pearls for necklaces and gowns.

To double check and make sure that this wasn’t only on non white wedding dresses and even some white weding dresses that use colored pearls for accents, I went to Nordstroms, Neimans, Saks, Bloomingdales, even Macy’s and I completely did this for research and not a completely useless reason to go shopping…lol…sure. And what I found was that all of these pearls are everywhere. The stores are all carrying silver pearls, purple cultured pearls and green pearls which are absolutely gorgeous, and when I went to check wedding gowns and formal wear at other stores, I was seeing the same colors in the clothing and being featured in display cases and on manicans and other displays in and around the store. Pearls are not only classic and fun, but these offshape and colored pearls are seriously cool and I love them for weddings when done right. Especially when they are in the gown to match the jewelry,,,,unfortunately these colored pearls usually only work for fall weddings and some summer gowns….depending when and what you are wearing…white gowns won’t work for colored pearls in the summer unless you have a really good stylist…plus white pearls are amazing in the summer and with your white gown.

Nail polish has also made a huge comeback for bridesmaids and some wedding gowns and I am going crazy over the fall line of nail polish from OPI called Espana which you can buy on sale at Ulta or Folica or Other Online Hair Care Stores. They are all dark and rich colors and have a ton of gem tones in them. My favorites are the cool colors and you seriously cannot go wrong by having your bridesmaids look at the color line for their nails and make them use them for your wedding…you should definitely have your stylist check out the OPI Espana collection before your fall wedding to make sure that not only your nails are perfect, but your bridesmaids nails are perfect too.

Now with hair. Hair is all over the place this fall for weddings. People are mostly going back with vintage updos,,,but thank god the bob cut has come back. If you have an early or regular fall wedding…you shouldn’t let a modern bob be out of the picture if you don’t want a hard to wear updo. Bobs are not only fun and easy to do for a wedding, but you can also work them and make them more fun and modern to make it an amazing wedding hairstyle and this fall you will start seeing some really cool bob cuts for modern and fashionable women who want to do something different than the updo wedding hairstyle and want to stand out and be fashionable. I am in love with the vintage and colored look for the fall wedding season and know you are going to love it and go crazy for it too. It is a really nice change to see that the wedding and fashion industry is back into using colors and I know you are going to love the fall wedding season and all of the colors that are going to be everywhere this year. Hand Bags and Purses For Brides of All Ages – Advice and Suggestions.

So one thing many brides don’t think about is which hand bag they should have and buy and carry to match their purse or suit or gown for the evening. Purse sounds weird there, but you also have your clutch inside your purse if you decide to carry a purse instead of a clutch which I am 100% opposed to. You should only carry a clutch so that you can take your essentials, make up for repairs, a snack or candy bar for an energy boost, and contact solution in case your eyes dry out. Maybe a tampon or something incase your other aunt flo decides to visit during your big day….visitors really can be a pain sometimes…ok enough with the period jokes….

Anyways, choosing your clutch or hand back to match your outfit should actually be very easy. Just follow these simple things and you’ll be able to find the perfect hand bag to match your gown and your big day and not have to have it be in the way. Things to remember when buying a hand bag for your wedding.

Match it to your dress. If your dress has pearly and ribbons, don’t get a bag covered in sequins and beads…you don’t want your hand bag to take away from your dress or your outfit. However, if you do go with beads or sequins like this, do it so that it shows off your new rings and make sure you always have it under your ring to really show it off when you are holding it.

Make it age appropriate. This is a wedding, not a night out clubbing. If you are over 30, get ribbons and something elegant. If you are in your twenties, go for something shaped modern and kind of hip. You can also get away with some oversized or undersized bags,,,just make sure you have enough room for only the essentials. If you are in your 40s. Get something that looks right for a woman who is just starting to really get to experience life and a new life with more experience and class and love. More curved bags and beads instead of squared bags can be perfect. If you like squared bags, try to avoid actual squares and get something rectangular and with satin ribbons or very gorgoues materials that match your dress. 50s and up. Hunny you can have the most fun. Go far sequins, beads, satin and everything else you could ever want. You want everyone to know that even though you are 60+ and getting married you can go like the rest of them and your bag should represent that even though you have reached 60 years old and more….your life is just begining and you are still young. Heck your new life is just starting so find a bag that is fun, and full of life, just like you and your new marriage.

Make sure it is not too big. You want it to be just big enough to hold all of your make up and things to help fix your face or your contacts, as well as any personal items that you may need during your big day. I would also recommend hand sanitzer in it because you have to shake a million hands and that is gross before you try to eat. Also, you don’t want your purse to be huge and take away from your gown or expecially your ring. Buy one that is small enough to blend in and can also be used to show off your wedding ring since you’ll never have a better venue for it….besides high school and family reunions.

Cookie Surprises Wedding Baskets and Cookie Gifts. The Perfect Wedding Invitation and Gift!

The other week I had a friend get sick and ended up sending him some flowers and gave a call. It sort of reminded me when I was younger and I would always catch the flu or break an arm or end up getting hurt somehow doing something stupid or get the flu because I used to love to play when it rained outside in the rain. Not to mention I always loved the snow, and everytime I would end up with the flu or in the hospital I would always get at least one Cookie Bouquet which was always my favorite gift.

People would always send a huge tin of popcorn or stuffed animals or one time I got a roll of steel pennies and another time a really cool balloon gram gift, but my favorite gift which someone always ended up buying was definitely the cookie bouquet.

Personalized Jone Soda Bottles & Jones Soda Cocktail Recipes with Alcohol

So after that horrible experience…well horrible drinks….at paramount kings dominion, I was inspired to rediscover a drink that was actually sweet and tasted good enough to drink and not get sick to your stomach. When thinking of a way to present drinks that were alcoholic and sweet and able to tie into a wedding website I was completely baffeled until I remembered being at a party one time and seeing that the host has the labels on their bottles of Jones Soda customized to have their pictures and their own sayings on the bottles.

I thought that this was a seriously cool and although Jones Sodas are seriously sweet and sugar loaded, they are still easily tolerated and actually can taste great when mixed with cocktails, so when I was looking through the Jones Soda sites, I found where you can order customized bottles of Jones Soda with your picture or your wedding or engagement picture or even your wedding announcement on the bottle to make it even more customized and cool for your guests. I actually used to be addicted to Jones Soda, not literally Addicted to it, but I loved their Sugar Free Zero Calorie Cream Soda and the best part is that Jones Soda uses Pure Cane Sugar and not those harmful chemical sweeteners in other sodas,,,but seriously, it is a bit better for you in my opinion even though I still drink Diet Coke a lot. Jones also comes in a ton of normal flavors like Root Beer, Cola, Diet, Cherry, Cream Soda, Orange and each holiday they create new flavors like Potatoe Pancake or Candy Corn or even random flavors and colors that I am going to ignore, and if you try them the right way and mix them the right way and serve the sodas in the personalized Jones Soda Bottles, your guests at your bridal shower, rehersal dinner or even engagement party are going to go crazy,,,not to mention love the drinks and the Jones Soda Bottles with your picture on them.

But what good is having the customized bottles of Jones soda if you don’t have any drink recipes to mix them with for your party so I wanted to take a little bit and share a few of my favorite jones soda cocktail recipes so that you can not only serve personalized bottles of Jones Soda to your Guests, but you can also get them drunk and get the party going even faster,,,,just remember to drink and find a designated driver so noone drinks and drives and risks hurting anyone else or themselves. Also make sure that if you are serving alcohol you know the age limit in the area you live in so you do not break the law.

Jones Cream Soda and Sugar Free Cream Soda Cocktails:

Chocolate Vanilla Cake – Take your jones cream soda and mix it with a shot of creme de cacao chocolate liquor and pour a bit of Absolute Vanilla in about a shot or shot and a half then mix or just pour the liquor into the soda in a cup with ice to get a layered effect.

Sweet and Sour – Take your Jones Cream Soda and pour in half a shot of amaretto to make it sweet and if you want it a bit sour, try some tequilla mix without the alcohol and you get a weird tasting cocktail and liqour drink that some people like and some people don’t…take a risk and serve it and who knows, maybe you’ll have created someone’s new favorite drink.

Jones Strawberry or Fruit Flavor Drinks

Jones Fizzing Margaritas – I love these! You can serve them frozen or on the rocks so they fizz. Take Patron or Jose Cuervo and mix it in with Jones Strawberry Soda or any other fruit flavor and add in a splash or an ounce of Margarita Mix and serve on the rocks to keep it fizzy or serve it over your blended ice and mix it in the blender again to make it a frozen non fizzy swet and sour margarita.

Any Flavor with Vodka – I haven’t actually found a flavor of Jones, including cola and diet cola, that doesn’t taste amazing with Vodka. My favorite is Absolute Vodka with it since it is thicker…just make sure to keep your vodka in the freezer before you try to serve and mix it.

Cola and Diet Cola

Vodka and Diet – enough said,,,its a classic that you cannot go wrong with…just like Vodka Tonic which you can also do with Jones.

Rum and Cola – Since Jones make a cola and diet cola that taste great, you can also serve the classics like Rum and Cola or Rum and Diet Cola.

SeaBreeze and other Sprite based Cocktails

Just use the Jones Lemon or Citrus sodas and you can serve everyones favorite Stoli Raspberry and Citrus Soda or even the cranberry, citrus and vodka seabreeze styled drinks.

Gay Days – Paramount Kings Dominion Richmond Virginia

So this last weekend we went to Paramount Kings Dominion amusement park for their annual Gay Days dance and festival sponsored by Brother Help Thyself which I think is another AIDS charity. It was great a few years ago when we all went and we were completely excited to be there again. We did remember though that a few things annoyed us but when we got there around 9 pm and saw how huge the crowd was that showed up for gay days, it had to be a blast.

We went and had our IDs checked for drinking wristbands and hurried into the amusement park. The rides at Paramount Kings Dominion are absolutely amazing. We started on this metal rollercoaster that seats for people across and does a ton of flips and turns and rolls every where and in every direction possible. The ride was incredible and everyone had a good time. We saw a ton of our friends in line as well and that made it even more fun, however there were also a ton of really loud trashy people there too which got old and annoying fast. However, it was our first ride so we decided to ignore them and just have fun.

When we finished with that ride, we hurried to the next one which was the grizzly bear and is a wooden rollercoaster since our one friend was afriad of the steel ones that go upside down. This wooden rollercoaster was amazing, especially since it was pitch black most of the ride, and the other good thing about gay days at Paramount Kings Dominion is that there are little to no lines at all for the rides. So when we pulled into the station, we actually just stayed in our seats and rode the Grizzly Bear Rollercoaster a second time. It was seriously fun.

After the Grizzly Bear we went on the Rebel Yell which is another wooden rollercoaster….hrmmmm a bunch of gay guys riding wood and bears….the joke makes itself work lol. This one is cool. It isn’t too bumpy and it is a racing rollercoaster where one train goes forwards and the other goes backwards so you have your choice on if you want to see what is coming and if you are winning the race or not know when the next hill is coming or who is in the lead. Either way it is a fun coaster and you will love it.

After we rode a couple more rides and made jokes about guess your weight and age, we made it to my favorite ride of the night and the last ride of the night. There is a picture of it below. It was a huge metal rollercoaster that you hang from the track on. You start by moving forward slowly then you get propelled around 70 miles per hour up the middle of this huge Mountain and start spinning around the track sideways and upside down. This rollercoaster was not only amazing and fun, but it was even better because you could not see the track so you have no idea which way you would flip or spin next. Everyone loved it and definitely was ready to go dancing after the ride got our adrenaline up….except for our friend who was scared of the ride. However, we did make one more pit stop on our way to the dance area.

We stopped at the deep fried Louisiana styled restaurant for snacks and margaritas,,,we couldn’t possibly show up to dance without a cocktail now could we. The food was actually good. My Shrimp PoBoy was actual large butterflied Shrimp and my friends corn dog was really fresh and smelled amazing. The Chicken Ceaser Salad though was really scary looking and my friend said it tasted like crap. The Chicken Fingers were completely standard but what really sucked was the Margaritas. They had no alcohol on them. the salt on the rim came off and didn’t even taste like salt and the Margaritas tasted like a 7-11 Slurpee and not a cocktail. They are seriously not worth ever ordering or drinking. They were aweful and unfortunately set the mood or should have been a warning for the rest of the night.

We get to the dance area (pictures below again) and the speakers were amazing. The base was clear and loud and the music wasn’t horrible. We also heard a cute remix of the new Whitney Houston song. So we got in line for drinks and watched all of the people with gow toys playing and hanging out and spinning their glowtoys and those stupid trashy people apparently can breed and grow by the hundreds in a matter of hours because we were stuck in a group of 1000 smelly loud trashy idiots yelling girl,,,ohhh hell no….b*tch please,,,,grrrlll I’m gona kick ya *ss, etc… and it was out of control because they were spilling drinks, stepping on people and just being obnoxious. This really made the beginning of the dancing get off to a bad start but hey, you can still find a good spot to dance and still have fun.

So we get to the bar and order our drinks…all none with top shelf since they didn’t have a bar, just lemonade, hurricanes, a rasperry drink and vodka cranberry with no real cranberry juice just fake flavoring and some serious sugar and watering down to try and fill them. The drinks tasted like crap and my jaw is still hurting from all of the sugar in these crap drinks. The only ones that actually tasted like liquor were the blue hurricanes and they were sooo loaded with sugar water that they hurt to drink to. The drinks were aweful so that didn’t help our mood, but at least the music was good, so we decided to dance.

We found a place by the steps to the dj booth and started dancing when all of the sudden we were surrounded by even more trash and when they kept bumping into us and everyone else, then grabbing random people when they were asked to stop and acting seriously stupid like they had never been out in public before we said f it,,,lets get the hell out of here and go back to DC and go to Town to go dancing instead. Anyways, the trashy people and crappy drinks ruined Gay Days at Paramount Kings Dominion and it is not worth going to. However the rides were fabulous so if you want a park with great rides and to enjoy some seriously cool rollercoasters, you should definitely go to Paramount Kings Dominion, however if you want to have a good time, do not go for Gay Days, go another day or time and you will not regret it. If for some reason you do want to go for Gay Days, I recommend you at least drink beer, the cocktails suck and if you want to fit in, buy yourself some lightup toys from the store in the banner ad in this post and bring them yourself…they have all of the same toys and sell them in small wholesale quantities so that you and all of your friends can have all the cool light up toys that they sell there but for 1/4 of the cost.

Sun Dance – Gay Rehoboth Beach Nightclubs and Events Guid

Soo last weekend I went crazy and decided to drive from DC all the way to Rehoboth Beach Delaware for their end of the Summer circuit party which is also a charity event called SunDance.

Sundance is one of the biggest and hottest events on the east coast (Besides the straight electric zoo in NYC and Randalls Island….XM radio sponsored it this year and the music was freaking amazing) and it not only raises a ton of money for the Gay Rehoboth Beach Charity Camp Rehoboth, but it also gets you out of all of the bars in Gay Rehoboth Beach and into a fun and loud music event that not only takes place annually at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, but also lets you drink top shelf liquor and red bull for free all night at their open bar and because it is a private event, it is open and serving alcohol until 2 am instead of the normal 1 am time that all of the other gay bars in Rehoboth Beach have to stop and shut down at. However, if you plan on drinking, either ride a bike to the Convention center for sundance or have someone who can drive you as there are a million sobriety check points and they are very strict on drinking and driving which in my opinion is one of the best and smartest things to do.

So why would you want to go to sundance or a circuit party in Rehoboth Beach Delaware?

Sun dance is 100% different than most gay parties and clubs that you go to. There aren’t a million twinks running around on Crystal Meth and the group isn’t rude and all about excluding and being rude to older people and people who don’t have perfect bodies. Instead it is eveyone who actually lives in Gay Rehoboth Beach Delaware on the East Coast and all of the Peopl from DC, Philly, Baltimore, and other cities that are close by who just want to get away, have fun and not be their normal stuck up and overly rude personalities. Sure there are still a ton of twinks there, but you also have a huge bear and leather community, a bunch of preppy people, professionals, service people, and everyone else in between and all of them just want to have fun and celebrate the end of summer. I love SunDance in Rehoboth Beach and think that if you have never been there before, then you seriously need to give it a try. It is one of the last Parties left that is actually all about music and fun and raising money for the local AIDS charity and not all about drugs and being as assh*le. It is one of the only parties the we actually all look forward to every year on the east coast if you cannot get to Fire Island and it is always a good time. However, if you know you won’t want to drive home after the party is over, you may want to get a hotel room for the night. Here are my recommendations.

1. The Shore Inn – Run by Rick and Ed…I used to stay at this hotel for years and love them. However it is clothing optional so be prepared and Rick gets really weirded out by bringing people back to your rooms so remember to only sleep with hotel guests….that is an inside joke that you’ll get when you stay there. The rooms are cramped and old, but the service and the hospitality and the guests are absolutely amazing. If you want a good bed and breakfast feel when you are staying in rehoboth and a fun time, the Shore Inn in Rehoboth Beach is the best gay getaway hotel and destination for you. It is also a block up from the very popular leather bar (that everyone goes to anyways called the Double L)

2. The Canal Side Inn. The Canal Side in is a mixed hotel of straight and gay people and is off of rehoboth avenue. It is set back along the canal that goes under the main bridge so watch for the turn directly after the draw bridge to get there and offers a bed and breakfast feel in a new building and amazingly comfortable beds. However it is set off of the main strip, but not by far so be ready to walk 10 to 20 minutes to get where you want to go.

3. The Atlantis Hotel on Rehoboth Avenue is a run down but well kept hotel right in the heart of Gay Rehoboth Beach Delaware. It is not only affordable but clean and easy to get around from. I like this place if nothing else is available but if you are new and want to be in the middle of everything that Rehoboth Beach has to offer, this hotel is for you. You can walk to Partners, Blue Moon, Aqua, Double L, Zues and all of the other bars as well as the convention center for Sun Dance over Labor Day Weekend.

4. The Breakers Hotel. The Breakers Hotel is right next to the convention center. It is an older hotel but clean and right by the beach so you can easily walk to all of the gay bars and be at the beach within 5 minutes of walking and you will have access to all of the shopping on and near by rehoboth avenue and all of the food there. It is a pretty ok hotel and if you want something cheap that is clean and usually has open rooms, try the Breakers Hotel in Rehoboth.

5. Any Bed and Breakfast. One thing that people love about going to Rehoboth is that there are a ton of Gay Friendly or Run Bed and Breakfasts. They are cheap and affordable and you get to meet the owners and hang out with all of the other guests so if you want to meet new people or go by yourself, either stay at The Shore Inn or a Bed and Breakfast and you will always have someone to go out drinking with or to lay on the beach with….that is one thing I love about the town, there are always people looking for someone else to hang out with.

Rehoboth is a really cool gay beach on the East Coast and if you are looking for a new place to take a gay vacation, you may want to try Rehoboth Beach Delaware, especially the week before and during Labor Day weekend for SunDance which is the largest circuit party and gay bar in Rehoboth Beach. Here are some pictures I took with my phone to share with all of you and before I go, you should also stop and shop at these stores before making your trip to pick up beach toys, glowing toys for the beach and at night and circuit party toys for the actual parties.

Dolce and Gabbana Wedding Gifts and Birthday Gifts

Ok, so I have a huge weakness for Dolce and Gabbana. I remember when I saw my first piece of Dolce and Gabbana clothing and went absolutely insane. It was a belt that my friend wore to this night club after she got home from Paris and then all of the sudden no matter where I looked I saw Dolce and Gabbana everywhere and fell in love. The first piece of Designer clothing I ever tried on was actually a pair for D&G jeans and they not only fit perfectly and from there on in I could never resist Dolce and Gabbana again.

Now, before you freak out about the prices and costs and think I am insane for even considering spending that much money, especially when we are in a downed economy, I only shop there twice a year, once for my Birthday and once when I go to visit my sister in the west because there is a D&G and Dolce and Gabbana Store right by her house and I usually live pretty reasonably the rest of the year and save up for it. I also don’t really go crazy and buy $500 shirts, but instead I’ll buy a pair of shoes, a wallet and the famous Dolce and Gabbana or D&G dog tags that they put out each year. Those are seriously cool and very affordable.

Anyways, the reason why I am going crazy is I aw an add for this store called clickio or something and when I was looking through their site I saw an entire section of nothing but Dolce and Gabanna and the best part is it is all seriously discounted so now everyone can easily afford to buy themselves Dolce and Gabbana gifts and buy Dolce and Gabanna wedding presents for their friends and family members who are getting married and not have to worry about going broke. Soo after looking at the Worlds Largest Gummy Bear post I did yesterday, I couldn’t help but look through that store and find even more cool stuff that you cannot live without. Well you could live without them easily, but after you see them you will not only want to have them, but you will probably whip out your credit card and order them not only for yourself, but also for someone who immediately comes to mind when you see these products.
