One of my favorite things about winter wedding fashions is that winter wedding clothing is all about vintage styles and metallic clothing colors.  You have to think and remember old styles in Hollywood from the 1920′s and Hollywood Glam and also 1970′s styled outfits as well.  Think Victor Victoria or even of Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger in Chicago styled clothing and gowns.  You can also wear dark colored fur stoles or fake fur coats and jackets and you can also wear studio 54 styled 70’s disco clothing, but updated to be modern.  Winter weddings are about classic and vintage and they are about showing up in layers of clothing that are able to let you change looks when you take one off and have a brand new look that you didn’t expect to have on underneath.

When you arrive at the wedding you want to show off the long fur coat or a fur shawl with a long trench coat.  Try to have a silky or a satin lining inside the jackets or coats so that when you take it off to show a pencil styled skirt or piped gown or even just a layered or classic slinky styled metallic vintage Hollywood glamour gown, it’ll show it off and make everyone take a second glance.  Nothing looks sexier than those types of gowns and hair styles against a silk lined coat.

If you aren’t into piping or pencil skirts and tops for winter weddings, you cannot go wrong with gowns and vintage styled dresses in metallic golds, silvers and bronze colors.  Not only are these looks timeless and the colors ideal, but you also have a choice between gowns that are low cut in the back and have bottoms that flow together or define colors and fabrics in layers or you could always try to wear a vintage styled winter gown with petals or with layers or even just slinky fabric flowing down.  Think of the gowns you would see on Marilyn Monroe or even on the fun blond girl who sings the Chicago song from the movie version of the Broadway show Victor Victoria.

For winter wedding hairstyles, I always love classic looking but modern vintage style with waves, curls and bobby pins. One thing you can also pull off with a vintage gown and theme are accents for your hair as well.  Not only do these work well, but they are perfect for Winter Weddings.  Think Madonna in Evita, that is the classic look and style that we are going for. Now lets go over Winter Wedding Jewelry.

The jewelry for Winter Weddings should be vintage styled but also have some sort of modern twists to it if you are not able to afford authentic vintage jewelry with gemstones.

If you can do antique jewelry and can afford the gems then you should try to stick to jewelry in golds and silvers that match the metallic gold and silver gowns that you are wearing.  You also want to make sure that you don’t go modern but you wear vintage styled jewelry with a more modern feel so that your jewelry and outfit match and you don’t look out of place.

For gem stones, you’ll want to use emeralds or rubies to add in some color or if you are able to find dark purple amethysts, wear them to add in some color but make sure you have a large dark purple amathyst ring with a large stone as that is what will make amethyst and vintage metallics for together and look amazing.  If you decide to go with emeralds and emerald earrings you’ll want to wear emerald bracelets or bracelets with emerald accents and if you want to wear rubies and ruby earrings, match your ruby earrings with a dark red ruby and yellow gold ring with gold metallic gowns.  Do not match red rubies with silver gowns or wear them with silver jewelry for winter.  It not only looks awful for winter weddings but it is rude to wear and not nice to do to the bride.  It shows bitterness and anger towards the bride or married couple.

The other style that I love and that seems to work extremely well for winter weddings are the 1970′s styled clothing but with very modern twists, colors and fabrics.  You can use the amazing lines and silhouettes and really cool shoes, you probably shouldn’t wear platforms or fishbowl shoes but you can follow the style of lines and really cool shapes by wearing shoes with cool backs and sides or even modern styled heals.

For jewelry, find vintage styled but updated jewelry because the 70′s are over and you don’t want to show up in full bell bottoms and hippy styled jewelry looking like you just did a ton o cocaine on a dancefloor.  Instead, you could wear vintaged styled modern designs that are not only chic, but tie in the emo look and you’ll have a classic and fashionable winter wedding look.

Waxing Poetic Pearl Jewelry – Perfect modern wedding pearls

So I found out that my one friend who works for one of my favorite wedding vendors had parted ways with them and it kind of started my day out on a bad note. On a good note though he ended up going to work for a website that I had never heard of before called Waxing Poetic.  I really didn’t get why I would promote or talk about a site called waxing poetic but I knew there had to be a reason that he would tell me to just take a look without saying another word or answering my questions.  Not only did I take a look at the site but I was instantly inspired….I didn’t realize how well he knew me and my tastes.

Waxing Poetic is a site that sells modern styled jewelry with a very classic and somewhat antique twist.  The first few products I found when searching the waxing poetic website were the pearl necklaces and pearl bracelets.  Not only do I love how they are sort of dark and sort of emo goth looking but they are also classic and extremely classy looking.  With the new lines of fall and winter wedding gowns coming out, I could only see these bracelets and necklaces being used.

The waxing poetic pearl jewelry is absolutely 100% perfect and amazing for fall and winter wedding jewelry.  It is thick, darker, classic and antique.  They blend into the outfits perfect and highlight your wedding bands and rings as well as your outfits and gowns.   They can be used for bridesmaids gifts but also for the actual bride.

You can buy the smaller or the bracelets with fewer strands for the bridesmaids and the fuller jewelry for the bride and even get the longer necklaces for the Mother of the bride or Mother of the grooms.  Either way this jewelry is an absolute must have for everyone for their weddings.   If you look at almost any fall line or winter line, you are seeing dark colors, denim colors and the wedding gowns are using shadows and darker accents.  That is what makes the waxing poetic pearl jewelry absolutely perfect for just about any fall or winter wedding and because they have classic antique looks they will be in style and in fashion for just about every year in the future.

It is very rare to find jewelry that can last multiple seasons but I think that Waxing Poetic has found the way to solve that issue.  I love when people take antique and classic looks and make them modern, but also make them work and that is what Waxing poetic has done.  Although I have never shopped there and have no need to shop there right now, I do love their designs and highly recommend you check their store out.

Pearl Necklaces, all kinds and we mean all kinds

Ok, I was watching a comedy show today and one of my favorite Drag Queen Actresses Varla Jean Merman who we all remember from Girls will be Girls, Project Runway and a ton of other shows and movies sang a song all about one of my very favorite wedding things, a Pearl Necklace.

Cubic Zirconia Earrings for Weddings and Shows

So the thing with weddings is that they are seriously expensive.  The diamond rings, the wedding bands, the gown, the flowers, the food, the honeymoon, etc…  The one thing that usually sets people over the top though is the accessories that the bride either wants or needs.  Of course every bride wants diamonds or real pearls, but in reality, not everyone can afford them.  However, costume jewelry in my opinion is also 100% out of the question, you don’t want to look like a drag queen at your wedding, you want to be a princess or a lady.  Costume jewelry cannot and will not do this, except for a tiara if you decide to go with a tiara instead of a headband with a veil.

Fall Wedding and Fall Fashion is Here!

Ok, I am going crazy over the newest fall fashion lines and trends for Fall weddings right now.  Everything is completely vintage and vintage gowns, hair and jewelry are all back in style for the fall with a few twists and tweaks. One of my favorite things about the fall season and fashion trends and wedding trends that is going crazy this fall is that colored pearls are back big time.  Especially peacock, purple and green pearls for necklaces and gowns.

To double check and make sure that this wasn’t only on non white wedding dresses and even some white weding dresses that use colored pearls for accents, I went to Nordstroms, Neimans, Saks, Bloomingdales, even Macy’s and I completely did this for research and not a completely useless reason to go shopping…lol…sure.  And what I found was that all of these pearls are everywhere.  The stores are all carrying silver pearls, purple cultured pearls and green pearls which are absolutely gorgeous, and when I went to check wedding gowns and formal wear at other stores, I was seeing the same colors in the clothing and being featured in display cases and on manicans and other displays in and around the store.  Pearls are not only classic and fun, but these offshape and colored pearls are seriously cool and I love them for weddings when done right.  Especially when they are in the gown to match the jewelry,,,,unfortunately these colored pearls usually only work for fall weddings and some summer gowns….depending when and what you are wearing…white gowns won’t work for colored pearls in the summer unless you have a really good stylist…plus white pearls are amazing in the summer and with your white gown.

Nail polish has also made a huge comeback for bridesmaids and some wedding gowns and I am going crazy over the fall line of nail polish from OPI called Espana which you can buy on sale at Ulta or Folica or Other Online Hair Care Stores.  They are all dark and rich colors and have a ton of gem tones in them.  My favorites are the cool colors and you seriously cannot go wrong by having your bridesmaids look at the color line for their nails and make them use them for your wedding…you should definitely have your stylist check out the OPI Espana collection before your fall wedding to make sure that not only your nails are perfect, but your bridesmaids nails are perfect too.

Now with hair.  Hair is all over the place this fall for weddings.  People are mostly going back with vintage updos,,,but thank god the bob cut has come back.  If you have an early or regular fall wedding…you shouldn’t let a modern bob be out of the picture if you don’t want a hard to wear updo.  Bobs are not only fun and easy to do for a wedding, but you can also work them and make them more fun and modern to make it an amazing wedding hairstyle and this fall you will start seeing some really cool bob cuts for modern and fashionable women who want to do something different than the updo wedding hairstyle and want to stand out and be fashionable.  Some of my favorite bob sites for ideas are Bobcut.com and ClassicBob.com where you can find a ton of photos of Bob Cuts and get a good idea for how to style your bob cut for your wedding.

I am in love with the vintage and colored look for the fall wedding season and know you are going to love it and go crazy for it too.  It is a really nice change to see that the wedding and fashion industry is back into using colors and I know you are going to love the fall wedding season and all of the colors that are going to be everywhere this year.  You definitely have to check it out as it is going to be an amazing wedding and fashion season….anyways,,off to go look through some catalogs for products for your fall and winter weddings.  =0).
